Bi Rain and his wife Kim Tae Hee may have a combined net worth of 50bil won (S$62.4mil), but it appears that they are more thrifty than their wealth would insinuate.
The couple spent just 1.3mil won (S$1,600) on their 2017 wedding…
A pittance compared to how much some of their peers (or your peers) are shelling out.
Millionaire Rain & His Wife Revealed That They spent Only S$1.6K on their Wedding in 2017
The intriguing notion was unveiled on Korean variety show My Little Old Boy, a reality programme which had previously focused on the indomitable Kim Jong Kook.
In a recent guest appearance on the show, Rain, 38, revealed that he had intended to throw an extravagant wedding – one that would have been, for the most part, befitting of their megastar statuses. However, his beautiful bride had other ideas.
Tae Hee, 40, reportedly wanted to keep things simple, and so the lovebirds flocked over to the Gahoe-dong Cathedral in Seoul, where they officially tied the knot in a relatively low-key ceremony.
Apparently, only around 100 close friends and family were invited to the private event.
Now, remember: this was the pre-COVID-19 period, so they could invite 100,000 people if they so desired.
Their wedding is reported to have cost just 1.3mil won (S$1,600), including the 250,000 won (S$305) they “splashed” on their wedding bands.
Rain purportedly wore a pre-owned tuxedo for the ceremony, and their photographer’s friend was chosen to solemnise the wedding.
The wedding was held back in 2017, following five years of dating.
Finances And Family Life
Rain also revealed that prior to getting married, the couple agreed to not interfere with each other’s finances.
And it seems that the move is working out. Apart from 44.4bil won (S$54mil) worth of properties registered under their name, the couple also owns a number of commercial properties of their own.
According to the Ninja Assassin star, he handles their family’s expenses, while his mother-in-law takes care of their investments.
“I don’t have to worry about my finances at all, I feel really lucky!” he said.
In addition, Rain shared that his wife is a terrific chef, and that he “eats everything she cooks”.
To compensate for her effort, he expressed that he helps out with chores like cleaning the dishes – a show of initiative that has led to him being rarely scolded in the house.
It looks like Korea’s Goddess does have a temperament from time to time after all.
Rain and Tae Hee currently have two daughters, aged three and one.
Current Showbiz Lives
Rain may have somewhat compromised his megastar status with the 2017 single “Gang”, but it seems that he has since taken it in his stride.
Embracing his newfound status as a ‘meme’, he has set up his own Youtube channel – which produces episodes in the format of a variety show.
Called Season B Season, the channel has exploded in popularity of late, and is now close to 1 million subscribers.
This is the latest video, and fret not, English subtitles are available:
Meanwhile, Tae Hee has been somewhat absent from the spotlight since her marriage (and what with her pregnancies), but it appears that she is slowly getting back to the celebrity lifestyle.
In 2019, after a near 5-year break, she returned to television in the family drama series Hi Bye, Mama!
She has also appeared in several lucrative commercials – one of which had parodied her husband’s 2017 hit “Gang”.
In response, Rain joked that he was going to sue his wife.
The couple also appeared in an ad together last year (2020) – the first time they had ever done so as an official couple.
In the meantime, do you know that the two leads in Crash Landing on You have officially confirmed that they’re dating? Read more about the beautiful couple here.
