Ramen Keisuke Lobster King Opens A New Outlet A Clark Quay!

Fans of Ramen Keisuke, here’s a piece of good news for all of you! If you haven’t already seen from your social media feeds, Ramen Keisuke has recently opened its newest outlet at Clark Quay, which is also their 10th outlet here in Singapore! This will also be the first outlet that serves Lobster broth so for all you lobster fans out there, be prepared to be in for a massive treat! Best part? It opens till 5am every day so it definitely caters to all dem party goers at Clark Quay!
This restaurant is helmed by none other than Keisuke Takeda, founder of Ramen Keisuke,s born in 1969 in Hiroshima. Fond of cooking as a child, he started his career as a chef with a French restaurant and worked there for 12 years. He then moved to a Japanese restaurant and worked for 5 years before opening ‘Bimisenryu Tanka’, a modern Japanese restaurant in 2004. Crowned as the Ramen King who is famous for his innovative and creative approach to his ramen creations, Chef Takeda aims to introduce the new benchmark of ramen after Tonkotsu soup in Singapore with the Lobster Broth.

Mr Keisuke Takeda’s popularity grows beyond Japan in 2010 when he opened his first overseas outlet – Ramen Dining Keisuke Tokyo in Singapore. In less than four years, the outlet rapidly expanded into a chain that introduced ten different ramen concept outlets!

Like all the Ramen Keisuke outlets, this restaurant also offers free-flow servings of hard boiled eggs and bean sprouts. This new outlet holds 62 seats, including 16 seats for alfresco dining!

Other than the coveted Green Tea Cola (S$4) which can be found in most of their other outlets, they have also recently introduced a new drink – Wasabi Ginger Ale (S$4) to Ramen Keisuke Lobster King. If you aren’t fans of carbonated drinks, then the Green Tea Cola and Wasabi Ginger Ale would definitely make you a convert!

At Ramen Keisuke Lobster King, you can choose from 4 different styles of ramen – Lobster Broth Ramen with Clear Soup ($13.90), Lobster Broth Ramen with Rich Creamy Soup ($14.90), Miso Lobster Broth Ramen ($14.90) and Spicy Miso Lobster Broth Ramen ($15.90).

As usual, you will be able to opt for various types of toppings, textures of your noodles and the amount of oil found in your stock from the DIY menu. Since we decided to go big that day, we chose the Special Lobster Broth Ramen with Rich Creamy Soup ($21.90) and the Special Spicy Miso Lobster Broth Ramen ($20.90).
These special ramens came with toppings like pork belly chashu, chicken chashu, prawn wontons, prawn balls, seaweed, ramen egg and topped with crunchy bamboo shoots – such a wholesome and hearty bowl of goodness!

 Special Lobster Broth Ramen with Rich Creamy Soup ($21.90)

The Rich Creamy Soup base reminded us fondly of lobster bisque, and every mouthful was greeted with a rich and robust lobster broth that comfortingly slides down your throat. In order to prepare this bowl of stock, the chef used French rock lobsters are specially imported from France, before simmering them for 6 hours with a special blend of herbs and vegetables to retain its flavours lobster broth. Preparing the creamy version requires an additional 4-6 hours.

Special Spicy Miso Lobster Broth Ramen ($20.90).

The Special Spicy Miso Lobster Broth Ramen, on the other hand, was less cloying – much to my liking. For those who are afraid that you cannot take the heat, you really need not worry since it wasn’t overly spicy. I felt that the spicy miso only added more depth to the broth and made it more flavourful! However, some might feel that the spiciness would cover the natural sweetness of the Lobster broth.

Chicken Nanban with Homemade TarTar Sauce – S$9.80

Other than ramen, Ramen Keisuke Lobster King also serves a lot of sides! The Chicken Nanban was deep-fried to perfection, ensuring that the chicken was still kept juicy beneath the deep fried skin. One thing that caught our attention was how they prepared the homemade Nanban sauce right on the spot, allowing us to customize the ingredients – onion, radish, eggs, etc – for our sauce.

The gyozas too were prepared crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside – my only gripe was that it was still a little hollow inside.
