Rats The Size Of A Man’s Fist Allegedly Seen Partying At Thai Eatery

Ratatouille might be a fan favourite when it comes to animated movies but when you see a live-action film? It’s a whole other story.

That was what a netizen in Singapore met with when he was at Woodlands walking past a Thai eatery.

Rats The Size Of A Man’s Fist Allegedly Seen Partying At Thai Eatery

On 27 Sep 2020, a netizen was walking past the Lerk Thai Restaurant at about 11.45pm at Woodlands Civic Centre when he came across an afterparty…of rats.

According to STOMP, the netizen said that there were “multiple big rats” as big as the size of his fist.

He added that he had seen three of the critters feasting but speculated that there could be more.

Apparently, his friend had seen another big rat run into the restaurant.

In addition to filming the video and putting it online, the netizen also claimed that he informed the manager of a nearby McDonald’s outlet.

“This is very unhygienic and shows a lack of proper measures to keep rats away from the food.”

But turns out, the restaurant might not be the one at fault, at least according to the spokesperson of the restaurant.

Inspection & Findings

Queries revealed that the National Environment Agency (NEA) has already been notified about the rat infestation at the outlet.

A spokesperson for Lerk Thai said that an inspection was carried out on 28 Sep 2020.

A second inspection was carried out by Woodlands Civic Centre management and the NEA on 30 Sep 2020.

According to the spokesperson, findings from the second investigation resulted in the mall being tasked to “step up efforts on pest control”.

They were given a week from 30 Sep 2020 to pull it off.

It was added that Lerk Thai takes housekeeping “very seriously”.

In addition, they’ve also increased the frequency of pest control and treatment from once a month to twice monthly since Aug 2020.

The restaurant also pledged to cooperate fully with NEA and the mall’s management.

“Aside to this, Lerk Thai Restaurant will extend our full cooperation to NEA and Woodlands Civic Centre to fight against the infestation situation.”

Singapore takes food hygiene very seriously and outlets who were found to have pests or made other offences typically had actions taken against them pretty quickly.

On a separate, unrelated note, if you’re wondering why restaurants are so insistent on following Covid-19 rules, it’s because they have no choice.

It’s either potentially piss a customer off, or be forced to close down for 10 days and not be able to serve any customers.

So the next time they say you have to wear your mask while waiting for food, just do it.

Everyone’s just looking to keep their ricebowl, anyway.
