During last year’s Chinese New Year, Raybe Oh Siew Huey and the tragic Tanjong Pagar car crash dominated the headlines.
The last we knew about Raybe Oh was that she was running a small business through Instagram, and had to go back to surgery for her recovery.
While everything has often been about the pain that the past has caused, there’s finally a piece of news about her future as she appeared in a first on-camera interview with CNA.
Summary of Raybe Oh Siew Huey’s First On-Camera Interview
If you check out her Instagram profile now, you’d realise that she’s not just running one business, but two businesses instead.
In the CNA interview, the 27-year-old revealed that she’s now running a beauty business with a friend, too. She said that being a successful business owner has often been one of her goals, and she’s glad to have finally stepped out of her comfort zone.
Dressed in a black sweater and pants, complete with a cap and mask, only her eyes are exposed in the interview and it’s for a good reason: she’s still recovering after 40 surgeries, and had to stay away from sunlight to protect her skin.
Because of the accident, she could no longer exercise like she used to be, and could no longer sing. The former Singapore Airlines air stewardess used to be a getai performer.
Raybe Oh: I’ll Be Looking at What I Can Achieve in the Future
Ms Oh might not have recovered physically, but she appeared to have recovered mentally.
She said that she’s the type of person who sees the glass as “half full” instead of “half empty”, and added, “Instead of looking back at what I’ve lost, I will be looking at what I can achieve in future.”
In addition, the incident has made her step out of her comfort zone to do the things she want to achieve in life.
Her beauty shop, Royal Skin Haus, is located at City Gate, a mixed development located along Beach Road (just beside the popular Golden Mile Food Centre). However, do note that it’s appointment-based only.

A Recap of What Happened
At around 5:30am on 13 Feb 2021, residents in the vicinity of Tanjong Pagar Road heard the roar of a car’s engine.
The car involved in the accident, a BMW M4 coupe, was seen speeding along Tanjong Pagar Road at the time.
Eyewitnesses say the car then slammed into a vacant shophouse previously occupied by Five Oars Coffee Roasters and burst into flames.
Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene, but it was too late; all five men on board were pronounced dead at the scene.
Those who died included Mr Long and Eugene Yap, both 29, Elvin Tan Yong Hao, 28, Teo Qi Xiang, 26, and Gary Wong Hong Chieh, 29.
Ms Oh raced towards the burning wreckage in order to save her boyfriend and emerged 10 seconds later engulfed in flames.
Not long before the tragic accident, Mr Long and Ms Oh had applied for a flat together.
