Not too long ago, Woodlands Integrated Transport Hub (WITH) opened to the joy of residents in the area.

As it has for residents in other parts of the country, it has made commuting a much more comfortable and pleasant experience.

Next in line is Pasir Ris, which will see a new ITH open up in the next decade, as well as a new rail turnback.

To facilitate this construction, there will be a few changes to the existing bus interchange.

Pasir Ris Bus Interchange to Have Upgraded Facilities From 3 July

To make way for the new ITH, part of the Pasir Ris bus interchange will be demolished next month.

However, commuters there can look forward to having upgraded facilities from 3 July.

For one, the reconfigured bus interchange will have more inclusive facilities, such as:

  • Graduated kerb edges as well as barrier-free boarding and alighting areas to make boarding easier for passengers in wheelchairs and parents with strollers
  • Priority queue zones with seats for commuters with mobility needs

There will be a total of 11 berths for boarding and two for alighting, all of which will be sheltered and barrier-free.

The new facilities also include barrier-free toilets, a nursing room, and a family toilet with facilities for children.

A room for commuters with special needs who may require access to a calming space has been opened up as well.

The reconfigured interchange will be safer for bus drivers too, as it’ll have a reverse warning system with blinking lights to alert bus drivers when other buses are reversing.

The interchange will also feature a green roof and energy-efficient lights.

The move will please interchange staff as well, as the staff canteen and staff lounge at the bus terminal has been upgraded.

There will be dedicated staff toilets and a room for cleaners to rest too.

No Changes to Bus Routes

Commuters need not worry as the changes will not affect any of the bus routes operating from the interchange.

The interchange will continue to be run by bus operator Go-Ahead Singapore.

Sad and tired-looking NSFs travelling to and from the SAF Ferry Terminal will not be affected either, as the dedicated shuttle bus service for them will continue to operate from the terminal.

Pasir Ris’ ITH is expected to be completed in 2028, the year where our travel bubble with Hong Kong might finally be launched.

It will be Singapore’s 15th ITH.

The Pasir Ris rail turnback, which allows trains to switch directions more efficiently, should be completed in 2024.
