One of the great things about 2020 – and there weren’t many – was the SingapoRediscovers Vouchers.
Singaporeans all over the country simultaneously jumped for joy when they heard the announcement, which is why some sleeping residents thought the country was experiencing its first earthquake.
S$100 worth of tourism vouchers for staycations, attractions, and tours were given out by the Singapore government to help out businesses who had been affected by the COVID-19 border restrictions.
It also gave Singaporeans a much-needed morale boost.
If you’ve not yet redeemed your vouchers, I have some good news for you.
S’poreans Can Now Redeem Their SingapoRediscover Vouchers from 34 CCs & RCs
Forgot your SingPass password or hate using technology? Well, you can now redeem your SingapoRediscovers Vouchers in person at community clubs or centres (CCs) and residents’ committee (RC) centres!
Yes, all you have to do is head to any of the 34 available CCs and RC centres across Singapore and present one of the following to redeem your vouchers:
- your NRIC
- Singapore passport
- your National Service identification document
At the counter, the staff will scan your identification document using a secure Government application to generate a personal voucher code.
They will then use the code to help you make a booking of your choice, whether it be a staycation, tour, or ticket to an attraction.
Temporary pop-up booths will also be put up at other CCs and RC centres, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said.
STB introduced the new redemption process after some raised concerns about the difficulties faced by the elderly and the less tech-savvy when redeeming the vouchers.
“STB had earlier reviewed the redemption process together with our five SRV authorised booking partners, after receiving feedback from citizens on how to improve the scheme.”
This new redemption process will be available from today (30 Aug).
Vouchers Expire on 31 Dec 2021
The SingapoRediscovers Vouchers expire on 31 Dec 2021, after STB extended the scheme to the end of the year.
In addition to the S$100 vouchers, a S$10 subsidy will also be given out for children and youth tickets for attractions and tours.
As of 1 Aug, over one million adult Singapore citizens have used the voucher at least once, with transactions amounting to over S$168 million, including vouchers and cash payments for tourism bookings.
Do note that the vouchers come in denominations of S$10, so if you were to purchase a ticket worth S$55 and use S$60 worth of vouchers, S$5 would go to waste.
What would be better would be to use a lower amount of vouchers, and pay the remaining amount in cash.
