On 19 August, the body of a 49-year-old man was discovered near Republic Polytechnic.
Police officers were spotted on the scene and it was alleged that the man was spotted trying to “move up the slope” in one of his last moments.
A Badly Decomposed Body of a 49YO Man Was Found Near Republic Polytechnic (RP)
At around 2.30pm on 19 August 2023, landscape workers discovered a badly-decomposed body of a 49-year-old man while trimming the grass.
They subsequently alerted the police.
The police stated that they alerted to the case of unnatural death at 2.45pm.
They does not suspect foul play based on preliminary investigations.
Body Found on Slope Next To Fence of Republic Polytechnic
The body was spotted right outside the fence of Republic Polytechnic.
This section of the fence is opposite E5.
Man Not a Member of the RP Community
According to a spokesperson from the school, they were alerted to the matter by the police.
“We were informed by the police that the body of a man was found outside RP’s compound on Saturday.”
The school managed to establish that the man was not part of the RP community.
However, as investigations are ongoing, they are unable to reveal more details about the case.
Man Allegedly Spotted Trying to Move Up The Slope
According to a Stomper on the scene, a certain section of the grass was sectioned off by the police for a few hours for investigations.
The body was eventually taken away at 6.30pm.
The Stomper also alleged that CCTV footage caught the man trying to move up the slope on 2 August 2023 in “one of his last moments”.
The Stomper, who identified himself as a “contractor”, said he obtained the information from “some sources”.
Other Cases of Dead Bodies Found in Public
On 3 Mar 2023, the body of a 24-year-old woman was discovered at the car park entrance of Sim Lim Tower.
The case comes just one week after a 70-year-old man was found dead in the carpark of Golden Mile Complex.
On 23 March 2023, a 33-year-old woman was found dead on the LRT train tracks at Cove Station, along the Punggol East Loop.
At around 10 pm on 23 March, SCDF received a call for assistance at Cove Station, located at Punggol Field. The police were alerted to a possible unnatural death at the same time.
There, they found a woman lying motionless on the LRT tracks, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
