Research Shows that Playing Pokémon GO will Make You Live Longer

Pokemon GO fans, is your girlfriend or boyfriend hating on you for always spending time on Pokemon GO instead of paying attention to him or her?

Or maybe, he or she just wants to laze around at home and cuddle, not walk 24km for that elusive Snorlax.

Here’s one valid reason you can give to justify your love for the Pokemon game. And it’s backed up by science.

Playing Pokemon GO will let you live longer

In a study conducted by researchers from Stanford University and Microsoft, it was found that Pokemon GO “significantly increased” physical exertion levels of Pokemon GO players.

The study tracked people through a combination of wearable sensor data and search engine logs for more than 32,000 people. The study estimated that the app has added a total of 144 billion steps to US physical activity.

That roughly translates to an additional 41 days for Pokemon GO players who kept searching and walking to find Pokemon.

But there’s a catch as usual

But of course, for every good thing, there must be a catch. It’s like what your mother always say, there’s no free lunch in the world.

A significant extension of your life can only be achieved by playing every day, searching for Pokemon locations every night and walking there the next day.

On second thought, that doesn’t sound so hard, does it? All you have to do is to keep your enthusiasm for a game that involves walking around, throwing Pokemon ball and a community that’s shrinking rapidly.

So there you go! The next time your other half complain about you spending more time on the game instead of her, just tell her you’re doing it for her.

Of course, we cannot guarantee that she’ll love the extra time you have with her if you’re going to spend all that time on your smartphone.
