There was unfortunately an accident at Hougang which cost the victim his life.
The accident was between a school bus and an individual riding an e-bike.
Here is what happened.
Man Dies at Hougang After His E-bike and a School Bus Collide
Earlier this week, on Tuesday (22 August 2023), there was an accident at the intersection between Hougang Street 61 and Avenue 8.
The accident occurred at around 6.11 pm in the evening during the rush hour time and it was sadly fatal.
Shin Min, a Chinese newspaper in Singapore, reported that a reader had informed them about the incident.
The reader, Cai Xun Jie (Hanyu pinyin), who is 32 years old, recounted that he heard a loud sound coming from the ground floor.
He then went out to investigate what happened and saw that a small white bus had collided with the traffic light pole at an intersection.
At the side, there was an e-bike which had been flung onto the road due to the impact.
There was also a rider of the e-bike lying on the ground.
Based on images shared of the scene, people were seen valiantly trying to rescue the e-bike victim.
Thank goodness for good Samaritans.
Unfortunately, the victim was brought to hospital unconscious and passed away from his injuries. He was 64 years old.
Accident Site Was a Mess
According to Shin Min, their reporters found that the e-bike was about 10m away from the site of the accident.
There were also bags of food lying around.
It is believed that the victim was a food delivery rider and was in the midst of making a delivery when the accident occurred.
Apart from the food boxes, there was also a pair of slippers which had flew very far from the site of the accident.
Bloodstained jeans and cloth were lying on the ground at the site, together with a notebook.
That does not sound like a pretty sight at all.
The Bus Driver Is Currently Assisting With Investigations
The bus driver involved in this accident (who is 69 years old) is currently assisting the police with their investigations.
He was believed to have been driving a white school bus which had just dropped off some children after school.
It’s a good thing that the children were not on the bus when the accident happened.
The bus driver and his two children declined to give interviews to Shin Min reporters at the scene, so details about this incident are still vague.
