Police arrested a 24-year-old man on Sunday, 14 April, following his alleged attempt to rob a supermarket in Choa Chu Kang.
The incident was reported to the authorities around 3:15 a.m.
The preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect had entered a supermarket on Choa Chu Kang Avenue 7, wielding a metal rod.

While police did not specify the store’s name, the location matches that of a 24-hour U Stars Supermarket at Block 810.
Failed Attempt at Robbery
During the attempted robbery, the suspect placed the metal rod on the cashier’s neck and demanded money.
According to the police, “The cashier did not accede to the demand and the man left the supermarket. No injuries were reported.”
Following the incident, officers from the Jurong Police Division identified the suspect using ground enquiries and surveillance images captured by police cameras.
The suspect was apprehended within two hours of the report, and the metal rod was confiscated as evidence.
The suspect is due to be charged with attempted robbery in court today (15 April).
If convicted of the charges, he could face a prison sentence of up to seven years and is subject to at least six strokes of the cane.
