In the latest episode of “People Spoiling Market (PSM)”, several restaurants in Robertson Quay were banned from selling takeaway alcohol after pictures of big groups chilling outside despite the Circuit Breaker went viral online.
Yeah, These People
According to a Goody Feed reader, multiple groups of people were seen along Robertson Quay having a beer and socialising with their friends while waiting for their meals.
In fact, so many people were in close proximity together you’d think they were celebrating the end of the circuit breaker or something:
And we all know what’s going to happen after these images go viral, don’t we?
URA Bans Robertson Quay Shops from Selling Alcohol
On 17 May, it was reported that the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) has issued an order to the shops in Robertson Quay to stop selling takeaway alcohol.
According to our reader, hardly any safe distancing ambassadors were seen in the area, which may have prompted people to stay out a little longer with their friends.

URA, on the other hand, said that during their patrols at Robertson Quay, a majority of businesses and individuals were found to be compliant with the rules.
But they decide to ban the sale of takeaway alcohol because they felt that it “has contributed to more individuals gathering around these premises”.
If any party is found to have broken this order, URA “will not hesitate” to take actions against them.
People At Robertson Quay Taking Safe Distancing Lightly
According to a hotel receptionist in the area, it seems that people have started to take the safe distancing measures lightly.
“I’ve seen some of them walk around without masks on, especially in the evenings. It’s like they don’t care.”
She had clarified that the quay has become bustling again since one or two weeks ago.
A cafe owner said that the crowd has tripled in size and that many of them “self-service” and unstack his tables and chairs for a seat.
He and another cafe owner reportedly had to shift their chairs indoors to prevent customers from anyhowly sitting on them.
No wonder they say people in Singapore don’t deserve nice things.
Only Two More Weeks To Go
We’re more than a month into the Circuit Breaker and we’re now exactly 14 days away from 1 June.
So let’s be more patient and tahan for two more weeks; after all, we’ve already done that for the past one month, so what’s stopping you from going for broke, right?
If you want food, order from food delivery platforms instead. True, it’s more expensive but, hey, at least you’re helping out the poor food delivery riders who are earning less despite the increased demand, yeah?
I’ll leave you with this very cute cat who will guilt trip you into not going out.
Just save it as your wallpaper and look at it every time you have the urge to do so.
