All 7 People Who Are Charged For Gathering in Robertson Quay Came With Lawyers

You’d have known about the Robertson Quay incident. Who hasn’t?

And you’d also know that they’d be charged today.

As you prepare your popcorn and wonder how much those dabao-ed beer would cost, you might want to keep your popcorn.

Because nothing much happened.

Though more details about these Sove—I mean, offenders, are revealed.

The New 7 Un-Masketeers

Today, the 7 people, comprising 6 men and 1 woman, went to court to answer their charges.

They comprise 4 people from Britain, 2 people from the US and 1 from Austria.

The 2 Americans are a married couple.

There are two gatherings involved: the US couple met up with the Austrian at the TAP@Robertson Quay bar for chats and drinks, while the other 4 people from Britain had met each other and drunk together at Rosso Vino.

And here’s the thing: all of them have lawyers to defend them.

The first three-people gathering at the TAP@Robertson Quay bar has one lawyer representing all of them, while two separate lawyers represent the people who gathered at Rosso Vino.

So what’s with the obsession with lawyers?

Just saying ah, our dear BKT Lover also engaged a lawyer to defend himself for going out a few times while on SHN, while the lady who met up with his boyfriend just came to court and admitted her mistake (for being so lovesick?).

Just saying lah hor.

It’s unknown whether the 7 Un-Masketeers would plead guilty or claim trial.

All of them are now out on bail for $3,000 each, and the case was adjourned to 16 June 2020.

No Passes Are Immune

Just yesterday, MOM released a statement, reminding foreigners working in Singapore to abide by our laws.

That’s regardless of whether you hold a work permit pass and stay in a dormitory, or you have an employment pass because you’re the CEO of a big hotel.

MOM said, “Regardless of pass types, those who are convicted (of) offences risk having their work passes revoked, in addition to an employment ban.”

In the last three years, over 100 employment passes have been revoked.

Employment pass is the “highest-tier” among all work passes—one must earn more than $3,900 a month and have acceptable qualifications, usually a good university degree, professional qualifications or specialised skills.

In other words, atas people lah.

It’s unknown what passes some of these Un-Masketeers hold, but one, the Austrian, is a Singapore PR.

Though it doesn’t matter; if I’ve been having Maggi Mee for 2 months, they should, too.
