Rules – some abide by them, others enjoy flinging them out the window.

If you cast your mind back to the Circuit Breaker, you’d remember that there were hundreds of reports every day of residents not complying with Covid-19 rules.

Several months later, it seems like we’ve all finally appreciated the gravity of the pandemic, as most of us are obeying the government’s orders.

However, there remains a slim minority that is still flouting Covid-19 regulations for their own benefit.

And some of them are brazen enough to post about it on social media.

RWS Responds to Footage of at Least 10 People Eating & Drinking in a Hotel Suite

Images and videos of a large group of people eating and drinking in a hotel suite have made the rounds on social media, drawing criticism from members of the public.

According to The New Paperthe alleged party seems to have taken place at a hotel at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS).

In the videos, at least 10 people were seen partying together in a hotel suite, with no masks or safe distancing.

An Instagram video also allegedly showed the group of 10 entering the hotel together. Another picture showed a few glasses next to a bottle of Japanese whisky, so you know they had a good time.

Now, either this group is somehow completely unaware of the restrictions in place, or they enjoy sharing their misdeeds online.

As you know, social gatherings are permitted during Phase 2, but limited to five people per group.

Even two groups of five people who know each other are not allowed to dine at a restaurant together, so partying together in a hotel suite is certainly not acceptable.

Authorities Investigating

The Singapore Tourism Board said it is aware of the alleged incident, but cannot share details as investigations are still ongoing.

Some fingers may be pointed at the hotel, but RWS may not be at fault here.

A spokesman for RWS said that mandatory safe management measures are emphasised and explained during check-in to all guests, who are required to register with the front desk.

Prominent signs at common areas are also displayed to remind guests of the rules.

In other words, if you break the rules, you’re doing so intentionally.

“We would like to remind all guests to strictly observe and comply with all safe management measures for the health, safety and well-being of the Singapore community,” the spokesman said.

If these 10 women are caught, they will certainly regret their little party.

First-time offenders who do not comply with safe management measures face a fine of up to $10,000, and can even be jailed for up to six months.

Though a fear of retribution shouldn’t be your reason for following the rules. Do so because you care about those around you instead.
