Actor Ryan Lian, 39, known for his roles in Ah Boys to Men 4, Long Long Time Ago and other Jack Neo movies, was allegedly attacked with a knife at NEX shopping mall in Serangoon last Friday (22 November 2024).
The incident reportedly occurred at the mall’s taxi stand while Lian was with friends.
Here’s what happened.
21YO Stabbed Actor Ryan Lian in The Face At Least 3 Times
The attacker, identified as 21-year-old Aaron Samuel Yukon, allegedly approached Lian and stabbed him at least three times in the face.
According to Shin Min Daily News, Lian said, “I noticed he was holding a knife, and it was only then that I realised my face was bleeding. My hands were trembling with fear.”
Lian struggled with the attacker and eventually escaped, but not without sustaining injuries.
A friend who owns a hair salon in NEX intervened to assist, resulting in an injury to himself. Together, they subdued Yukon, who was later arrested after the friend called for help.
Two passing medical professionals provided first aid to Lian and his friend while they waited for authorities to arrive.
Lian was discharged from the hospital yesterday (25 November). Doctors informed him that his injuries would likely leave permanent scars, leading Lian to consider retiring from acting.
Aaron Samuel Yukon has been charged with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon, an offence carrying penalties of up to seven years’ imprisonment, a fine, caning, or a combination of these punishments.
The court has ordered Yukon to remain in remand after receiving treatment at Changi General Hospital. His next court hearing is scheduled for 29 November.
Police investigations are ongoing, and the area where the attack occurred was cordoned off on the night of the incident. Authorities redirected pedestrians away as they examined the crime scene.
This comes amid personal challenges for the actor, who was arrested in September after a separate incident involving an attempt to pry open a lock at a Telok Blangah residence.
Other than acting, Lian is also active in TikTok, running a channel, Longmao Studio, which has nearly 30K followers.
