Samsung Note 7 Caught on Fire during Charging
Reports of some devices exploding when users charged them surfaced and Samsung Electronics Co. has delayed their shipments of Galaxy Note 7, causing a tremendous blow to the company.
Faulty Batteries Overheating and Exploding
An unnamed Samsung spokesperson revealed that the cause of these explosions could be due to faulty batteries.
Samsung’s result of its investigation into the cause of the reported exploding devices and countermeasures will be announced either this weekend or early next week.
A Possible Recall of the Devices
According to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency, Samsung Electronics Co. is expected to announce a recall of Samsung Note 7, a first for the company.
“The most important thing is the safety of our customers and we don’t want to disappoint our loyal customers.” – Yonhap News Agency
Samsung is prepared to recall devices from both home and abroad, and the unnamed Samsung official stated that the company is in global discussion with its various business partners.
“We don’t have any intention to delay (the announcement) or hide (the result of investigation). The decision will be made in consideration of maximum consumer benefit.” – Yonhap News Agency
