You may know People’s Power Party (PPP) candidate Samuel Lee for his singing antics, but it seems that his melodic rendition was not his first time going viral.
As it turns out, the Central Executive Committee member of PPP was once sentenced to six weeks’ jail in 2024 following a road rage incident in Toa Payoh.

The incident occurred on 2 Feb 2022 along Lorong 4 Toa Payoh, near Victory Family Centre. Lee failed to give way to a food delivery rider on an e-bike, nearly colliding with him.

The rider, angered by the close call, followed Lee and shouted at him. Lee remained in his car and called the police. While waiting for officers to arrive, the rider continued to shout, which heightened Lee’s frustration.
In response, Lee reversed his vehicle and accelerated towards the rider in an attempt to intimidate him. The rider managed to dodge the car.
Lee reversed and drove at the rider a second time, but the rider again avoided being hit. During the incident, Lee’s car knocked down a metal gate at the Victory Family Centre.
Lee was charged with two counts of reckless endangerment. He appeared in court on 20 June 2024 without legal representation and requested a short-term detention sentence.
The judge denied his request, citing Lee’s lack of remorse and his tendency to blame others while denying responsibility for his actions. Lee received a six-week jail term and had his driver’s licence revoked for six months.

Lee, 33, is an IT engineer specializing in software deployment and system quality assurance. He joined the PPP in late 2023 and is responsible for media-related matters within the party.
He is part of the PPP team slated to contest Ang Mo Kio GRC in the upcoming General Election, alongside party treasurer William Lim and other members.
The PPP has recently confirmed its intention to contest in Tampines and Ang Mo Kio GRCs, setting up potential multi-cornered fights in both constituencies for the General Election scheduled on 3 May 2025.

The party’s secretary-general, Goh Meng Seng, announced the slate at a press conference, with Lee named as one of the Ang Mo Kio candidates.
The PPP has not issued a public statement regarding Lee’s conviction and jail sentence. Media outlets have reached out to the party for comment.
