SBS Bus Captain Offers Spare Mask To Passenger Who Forgot To Bring His Out, Restores Faith In Humanity

Amid the ongoing epidemic, face masks have become a necessity.

And for good reason too. Though face masks do little to protect you from airborne viruses, they serve as good inhibitors for your own transmission.

Little wonder why they are in such demand, and why they’ve been incorporated into pretty much every daily routine.

Without a doubt, a true saviour in these trying circumstances indeed.

Yet, at the same time, it also creates a rather awkward and ‘demanding’ scenario. After all, face masks have become a ‘mandatory’ accessory of sorts…

And so… things only get significantly dire when you head out, go onto the bus and realise that…

You’ve forgotten your mask.

Usually, the above would have made a very, very distressing scenario.

Everyone’s looking at you, The bus captain is looking at you.

And the grueling part’s that the mask is not going to magically appear on your face.

Plus, you would have to go back and get one, and effectively waste loads of time in the process.

Truly, it would be nothing short of a disaster.

But thankfully, for one Peter Low, it was not, for the most part, a dire situation…

A notion that can largely be attributed to the kindness of the SBS bus captain.

In a Facebook post posted two days ago (3 September 2020), user Peter Low detailed an encounter he had in the evening, and how a bus captain’s act of kindness and generosity had ‘saved’ him.

According to the post, Low had been rushing from the bus stop at Blk 129 AMK Ave 3 to AMK Ave 10 to retrieve a personal item that he had dropped, at around 8:50 p.m. on 3 September.

In his hurry, he had forgotten to put on his mask on his way out.

Which would surely have meant instant death if Trump was in the local office, but thankfully it wasn’t the case.

Attempting to get on the bus, Low only realised the hard truth when the bus captain pointed it out to him.

“This bus captain who noticed I was not wearing a mask highlighted it to me,” he wrote. “I was shocked to hear his remark and apologised to him and told him I was in a hurry that’s why I had forgotten to put on my mask.”

Low then told the bus captain that he was going to go home and get one. Which would have, naturally, wasted a great deal of time and effort on Low’s part.

But it was not to be.

“Upon hearing my plight he offered me one of his personal spare mask,” he wrote.

Yes, folks, the bus captain offered his own personal spare mask to a stranger, out of nothing but kindness and generosity.

And Low was evidently grateful for it.

“I am so touched by his kindness and generosity,” he wrote. “And that is why I wanted to publish this story to express my heartfelt thanks to him.”

“I hope he or someone in SBS Transit will see my story and convey my thanks to him. THANK YOU BUS CAPTAIN. YOU SAVE MY DAY.”

With that said, we, too, recognise the kindness and generosity of the bus captain.

In these trying times, it’s truly heartening to see such an event ‘unfold’ before our very eyes.

Though of course, do make sure to remember your mask wherever you go.

As kind as the bus captain is, he is probably going to run out of face masks if everyone follows suit. 😉
