You know a movie has made it when you start seeing all sorts of franchise appearing after the movie ends.
From books to towels, the minions have invaded every parts of our home.
The cute yellow minions stole the hearts of many when they first made an appearance in Despicable Me.
Heck, they got so popular that they even got a movie of their own.
So it’s of no surprise when the restaurant with two golden arches released a series of Minions figurines which got sold out real quick.
In their Facebook post, the fast-food chain thanked the fans for their support and mentioned that the figurines will be restocked.
Well, restock or not, scalpers are not going to let go of this money-making opportunity.
After all, there are probably people out there who just can’t wait for the stocks to come in again.
Golden Minions Fetch High Prices at Carousell
Seems like these golden minions are really popular, especially when you see the price they’re fetching (or hoping to be fetched) for.
Some sellers put a price of between $100 to $180 for these rare collectables:
Some of these figurines are King Bob and minion dressed Hawaiian style.
Reaction To The Carousell Prices
According to Shin Min Daily News, some of the general public expressed their surprise upon hearing that the figurines were sold at such high price on Carousell.
Some of them wanted to know the number of Happy Meals some sellers bought in order to collect all 35 designs.
For others, they would rather spend the money on a staycation than purchasing these figurines.
Seems like these cute yellow minions are going to stay around in the Carousell world for a long long while before the next craze comes.
The Minions
For those who recalled, the fast-food chain released a series of Minions collectables before this, when Despicable Me was out in cinemas:
Some of the toys include Agnes Rockin’ Unicorn and the yellow ones pumping iron.
At that point in time, McDonald’s also released a few new food items such as the banana flavoured ice cream and Banana Pie.
35 Designs For Minion Toys
In conjunction with their new Minions-themed menu on 3 September, McDonald’s released 35 new designs for the Minions series toy figurines.
Some of the new food items include the Minion Potatoes and the Smoky Nacho Cheese Sauce Bottle with a cute minion on the front label.
Released on a batch basis, the toys were on sale from 4 September onwards. Each batch has a collection of seven different types of Minions figurines.
Housed in a round Minion capsule, each customer is limited to four Minion Toys when they order the Minion Happy Meal.
Customers can choose between a book and a toy from other Happy Meal series from their 5th purchase onwards.
One unique thing about this collection is that there is a golden twin for each of the Minion toy.
Meaning, for every King Bob you see in the collection, there is a limited quantity of a golden King Bob lurking around at some McDonald’s branches.
Now you know why the figurines are selling at such high prices, huh?
