Self-Entitled Parent Uploaded Conversation With Teacher on Internet, Shows Why Strawberries Exist

Older Singaporeans love bashing the younger generation.

We call them the Strawberry generation, the Durian generation, but they essentially mean the same thing.

Strawberries are weak. They bruise easily and they can’t take hardships while Durians, they’re prickly, sometimes just disgusting to be around and self-entitled. Yet, they’re weak when it comes to crunch time.

But what most people forget to mention in their bashing of these people is this.

Their parents.

Because no matter how much you blame these young people, the fact remains that their parents are highly likely to be responsible for how they turn out.

Like this self-entitled parent that we’re going to talk about.

Self-Entitled Parent Thinks Teacher is Rude, Uploads ‘Proof’ Onto Internet

On 1 Aug 2018, screenshots of a conversation between a mother and a teacher were uploaded onto the infamous forum, Hardwarezone.

It started with the mother asking the teacher for assistance on a show and tell. And after the ‘opening salvo’, everything went downhill.

Here, look at the conversation for yourself.

The teacher referred the mother to Class Dojo, an app which allows parents, teachers and students to share pictures, posts and messages.

Unfortunately, the mother took offence to the teacher’s reply.

Puzzled, the teacher attempted to clarify the issue.

Only to prompt another mini rant and the classic I want to see your supervisor line.

And the conversation closed with the teacher and mother both terribly displeased.

Unfortunately for the mother, her attempt to online shame the teacher backfired.

As of writing, the number of replies in the thread reached 52 pages, and most of them took the side of the teacher.

Everything also can scold but not the kid.

Parents…sigh.

Teachers nowadays very poor thing lah.

Nope, no issue with Class Dojo.

And of course, the best: you never got what you want meh?

But that’s not the end of the issue, oh no.

So, another teacher, Ms Lin, saw the mother’s post and decided to give her two cents’ worth.

She said that the teacher in the conversation wasn’t rude, just professional. In fact, she would’ve replied, in the same way, to ensure that the message gets across. In fact, it was the mother who was rude, replying in short form.

Ms Lin also tried to explain the plight of teachers and condemned the mother for being a bad parent.

Cue second tirade.

Here’s the TL;DR in case you’re too lazy to read the entire thing:

  • The script is with the teacher, not the mother and her child.
  • Being professional good and all but the teacher should’ve used a softer approach.
  • She took offence with the lack of effort by the teacher. She felt that the teacher just “messaged and moved on”.
  • Then, she went on to personal attacks, saying that Ms Lin isn’t married, which was such a “pity” and told her to carry on playing Maple Story M.
  • She said that teachers shouldn’t complain, because this is their job.
  • Then, she ended off with calling Ms Lin a coward, and the classic “Let’s hear from MOE”.

And if you want to read what she typed:

Her post has since been taken down but that’s what makes the internet so wonderful. Whatever goes in never truly comes out.

And one final part before we say goodbye to the mother:

So, yet another person saw the mother’s Facebook post and decided to give her opinion on the issue.

And true to the mother’s form, she launched into another rant, this time against the new person.

Comments below all belonged to the mother:

Some people just never learn. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Or maybe she did.

Because according to the folks at Mothership, the mother is currently “taking a break from social media”.

And of course, she’ll be back.

But serious, this sentence is why strawberries exist: “You can say me but not my kids.”

Because last I know, last time, parents used to say, “Yah, go hit my kids until he wake up from his sense.” #justsaying
