Man Forced to Sell off His PS5 After His Wife Realised It Wasn’t an Air Purifier

A while back, I had the fortune to view an absolutely hilarious animated skit on Youtube, which revolved around three nervous males, one very suspicious housewife, an air-headed student and a PlayStation.

In the 2:51 video clip, a “technician” could be seen replacing a broken Wi-Fi router with a… PlayStation.

Everyone seems to be aware of it except for the housewife, who’s highly suspicious of this unnecessarily long “router”.

We then see the males try their best to hide the fact from her – such is the strength of their bro code and the prowess of the almighty PlayStation console.

Alas, it was all spoilt by a certain air-headed student, who had no qualms about speaking whatever was on his mind.

Suffice to say; the housewife was not content.

Now, the 2:51 video clip may have been a work of fiction. A sponsored work of fiction. But it appears that the gist of the skit is not confined to the 2D realm…

As somewhere in reality, a man has been caught doing the exact same thing.

Taiwanese Forced to Sell off His PS5 After His Wife Realised It Wasn’t an Air Purifier

A man in Taiwan was allegedly forced to sell off his newly-bought PlayStation 5 console when his wife realised that it was not an actual air purifier…

But in fact a fast-processing gaming machine.

The revelation was unearthed in a Facebook post, which was uploaded by the supposed second-hand buyer of the console.

According to the report, the man had purchased a PlayStation 5 console gaming unit – which was released in Taiwan on 19 November 2020.

However, it appears that his wife was not a fan of games, as he reportedly lied to her that he had actually purchased a new… air purifier unit.

For the record, here’s how a PS5 looks like:

Well, you can certainly see where the man’s coming from.

However, it appears that his wife was a little too eagle-eyed to be fooled. And so, the man was called out for his lie and had to pay the price:

He was ordered to sell the perfectly-new gaming console, right after he purchased it.

I tear up at the number of tears this guy must’ve shed.

Selling For Cheap

And so, the man was forced to list the console on an e-commerce platform. A prospective buyer soon came along, and was attracted by its low price.

Curious, the buyer asked the seller. Why is the latter selling the brand new unit for such a cheap price?

In response, the man simply went silent, before he answered: “My wife asked me to sell it.”

According to the buyer’s Facebook post, he could not help but empathise with the seller at this point, and felt sorry for him.

Meanwhile, Netizens have expressed their thoughts about the topic.

Suffice to say; they weren’t impressed by the man’s tactic.

“Women aren’t dumb nowadays,” a Netizen said. “Plus Playstation 5 is being widely circulated online now, and it is easy to find out that it is a PS5 and not an air purifier unit.”

And so… the moral of the story here?

Try to present your brand-new PS5 as a Wi-Fi router instead.

As long as you keep snot-nosed, free-talking young brats out of your house, you should be fine.

Though of course, you could always tell your wife the truth. As long as you observe a daily gaming limit, I don’t think she will go all ‘Mumsy’ on you.

PlayStation 5

The PlayStation 5 was released on 12 November in Australia, Japan, New Zealand, North America, Singapore, and South Korea, and was made available to the rest of the world on 19 November 2020.

There are already more than a dozen titles at launch for the PS5, with some notable titles being:

  • Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • NBA 2K21
  • Demon’s Souls
  • Godfall

It should be noted that the PS5 also has backward compatibility with the PS4, which means that you can still grind Final Fantasy VII: Remake on your brand new machine.

However, there are some exceptions to the case, which you can peruse here.

Over here in Singapore, the retail price for the PS5 Digital Edition is going for S$599, while the one with an Ultra HD Blu-ray™ disc drive is priced at S$729.

Lest you’re unaware, the Digital Edition has no disc drive. Users are required to sign into Playstation Network and head to the Playstation Store in order to purchase and download games.

Meanwhile, the latter can run physical copies of games, and will also be able to view 4K Blu-ray discs on 4K TV with their console.
