It can be hard to understand why some people do the things they do.
Sometimes, rage does get the better of these people, who have no way of controlling or restraining themselves with reason.
And in all their fury, all they want to watch is the world burn.
Charged For Imprisoning Woman In House
Way back in 2019, this 66-year-old man decided to lock a woman up without her consent.
Which, FYI, is extremely illegal.
At about 12:17 am, the man had locked the door of a flat in Blk 305 along Shunfu Road, disallowing the woman who was in the house to leave.
It’s like going to jail, but in your own house, which constitutes as illegal imprisonment.
The relationship between the man and woman was not disclosed by reports.
His motive behind the crime also remains unknown.
However, after being taken to court, the man was assessed to have mental disabilities and got away with a sentence of two years’ compulsory treatment for his crime.
Unfortunately, before his two-year treatment was completed, the man once again committed a crime in the same vicinity.
Set Fire To The Corridor
On 6 March this year, the man went to one of the fourth-floor corridors facing a string of units in an HDB block in the same estate along Shunfu Road.
At about 1:37pm, he proceeded to use a lighter to set fire to pieces of paper that he had strewn along the corridor, then walked away from the scene.
There was a man living in the unit right in front of where the old man caused a fire, but during the time of the offence, the man was taking an afternoon nap instead.
Understandably, when you’re completely knocked out during a good nap, not even the strong smell of smoke can wake you up.
It was only after the man’s female relative returned to the flat that she noticed burn marks outside on the corridor and told him about it.
They checked the CCTV footage they had to discover that the old man had been the culprit, with his face clearly captured by the camera.
Enraged, the house owner called the police and reported the old man.
The police have yet to comment on the matter, which is probably still being investigated.
Committing arson and damaging public property can lead to up to three years in jail, a fine, or both.
