A 25-year-old female teacher shared her uncomfortable encounter with a stranger who approached her with unwanted advances outside a shopping mall.
The incident occurred on 15 Mar 2025 evening at 313@Somerset shopping centre along Orchard Road.
Here’s what happened.
Unwanted Advances Outside Shopping Center
The teacher, who wishes to remain anonymous, told Shin Min Daily News that she was waiting for a friend when a dark-skinned man, approximately 30 years old, suddenly approached her.
According to her account, the man initially spoke with a “fake British accent” but switched to a local accent once he realized she was Singaporean.
This made her question whether he specifically targeted foreigners.
“He didn’t say much, just that he found me physically attractive and wanted to have ‘one-on-one interaction’ with me. When I asked what he meant, he clarified he wanted ‘intimate’ time and to do ‘things behind closed doors,'” she said.
Reader: Woah, that is very direct!Â
And very desperate too.
Continued Concerns About Public Safety
The teacher rejected his advances, and while the man didn’t persist, he handed her his business card before leaving, suggesting she could contact him if she “changed her mind.”
The business card contained his contact details and the name “Chocolate Paul”.
“I spotted the same man loitering near *SCAPE Youth Centre afterwards. Since many young people gather there, I worried he might approach other young women, so I took his photo and shared my experience as a warning to others,” she said.
Though the teacher had previously been approached by strangers, they typically only asked about dating possibilities rather than making direct sexual advances.
The man’s behaviour left her feeling offended.
She noted that while she wasn’t physically harmed, his actions made her uncomfortable. She considered it a moral offence and didn’t report it to the police.
“I recognized his intentions and could refuse him, but there are many young women in that area. If someone falls victim to this behaviour, the consequences could be serious,” she added.
