S’porean in Hong Kong Could Face Charges for Taking COVID-19 Vaccine Again to Visit Bars

While some people are still hesitant to get jabbed with a COVID-19 vaccine, many are rushing to book appointments.

This is because it’ll not only grant them immunity from the coronavirus but also allow them to engage in activities only opened up to vaccinated individuals.

It appears, however, that there are some people out there who are a little too enthusiastic about receiving COVID-19 vaccines.

One man in Hong Kong, for example, got four doses from two different manufacturers.

Reader: Wow, he must be really paranoid about the virus, huh?

Nope, he just wanted to visit some bars.

S’porean in Hong Kong Could Face Charges for Taking COVID-19 Vaccine Again to Visit Bars

A 30-year-old Singaporean in Hong Kong could face charges after he received two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine despite having received two Moderna shots in Singapore.

Yes, in total, the man took four shots of two different vaccines.

The man reportedly took the extra jabs in order to obtain a local electronic vaccination record just so he could visit some bars, according to SCMP.

Yes, you can take the uncle out of Singapore, but you can’t take the Singaporean out of an uncle.

Now, the authorities are considering prosecuting the man for what they called “extremely selfish and irresponsible” behaviour.

“The relevant act may involve a misrepresentation and gaining of benefits through deception which constitutes a criminal offence,” the Hong Kong authorities said in a statement.

“The government will conduct [an] investigation and consider taking appropriate legal actions. If necessary, we will prosecute the relevant person.”

It added that the man’s actions not only endangered himself, but also wasted the city’s vaccine resources and implicated the medical staff who vaccinated him.

The man seems to have exploited a loophole in community vaccination centres’ protocol, as healthcare workers there are not required to ask recipients whether they had been vaccinated overseas.

As of yet, there’s no international system for verifying a person’s vaccination status.

No, 4 Jabs Are Not Better Than 2

Two heads are better than one, so four vaccine doses are better than two, right?

Wrong.

Professor David Hui Shu-cheong, a pandemic advisor for the Hong Kong authorities, said there are few medical benefits to taking four jabs.

Instead, recipients will be more at risk of experiencing side effects, such as fever, headache, or pain in the injection site.

Another expert warned that getting four doses could potentially affect one’s immune system, as there’s still a lack of scientific evidence on the matter.

“Given the unknown risks, it is not worthwhile for anyone to do so, and people’s views should be rectified via promotion and education by the government,” he said

How’s Hong Kong’s COVID-19 Situation? Any Chance of Our Tr**** Bu**** Launching?

Unlike Singapore, Hong Kong is doing pretty well at the moment in keeping the coronavirus at bay.

No new COVID-19 cases at all were confirmed on Monday (19 July), as the country’s third wave seems to have subsided.

We can’t even think about a tr**** bu**** with Hong Kong, though, as infections here are at an all time high.

We are ahead of our Hong Kong counterparts in our vaccination progress, though.

As of Monday, 27.2% of Hong Kong residents have been fully vaccinated, while 38% have received at least one dose.

Here in Singapore, nearly 50% have been fully vaccinated, while more than 70% at least partially vaccinated.
