For patients from the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), procuring their prescriptions has just got a lot more convenient, for they’ve partnered up with pharmacy chain Guardian to ease the collection process…
Having instituted collection services in 11 designated Guardian stores, where patients can now retrieve their prescriptions from.
SGH Patients Can Now Collect Their Medications from 11 Guardian Stores
More than 40Â patients have used the service after it was introduced last month.
If customer feedback is positive, the number of stores may even be expanded.
The order process is simple enough. Patients must leave their prescription forms with any Guardian outlet with a pharmacy, with a minimum of three working days’ notice.
The pharmacist will proceed to submit the order, and the patient can collect the prescription from one of the 11 stores at their preferred date and time.
All medications, save for those which need refrigeration or instant application, can be filled.
For the record, the cost is still paid to SGH.
Once a patient’s medical bill is ready for viewing, an SMS will be issued to them.
Medical bills can be read on the SGH website and on SingHealth’s Health Buddy app.
Patients can choose to make payment online, or in any 7-Eleven store or Singapore Post branch.
Partnership
According to SGH pharmacy practice manager Lim Ching Hui, the partnership complies with a national goal to go past the hospital setting, and closer to one’s home.
“We aim to provide more choices for self-collection, especially for patients and caregivers who are not available during SGH Pharmacy’s opening hours or find it inconvenient to travel to SGH just to collect medicine,” said Ms Lim.
By collaborating with Guardian, which has the “largest community pharmacy network” in Singapore, patients are also able to procure expertise and advice from pharmacists.
All in all, a win-win situation.
