Singaporeans love their McDonald’s, but after eating five McSpicys a day for 12 years, you want a change in life.
Reader: You eat five McSpicys a day? How do you still have a stomach?
KFC’s burgers are alright, Burger King should clearly change its name, and Fatboy’s is only suitable for patrons who have the appetite of an entire village.
Fortunately, in 2019, a certain New York burger joint confirmed that it would open its first store in the country, and Singaporeans went wild.
I’m talking, of course, about Shake Shack.
It has opened three more outlets since, bringing tasty burgers to more hungry residents.
Well, if you happen to live in Telok Blangah and have never visited this beloved burger chain because you detest walking, I have some good news for you.
Shake Shack is coming to a mall near you.
Shake Shack Opening 5th Outlet in VivoCity; First Outlet Was Only Opened Last Year
Less than a month after opening its fourth store, Shake Shack announced it will be opening its fifth outlet in the country!
The branch will be located in VivoCity, though no opening date has been announced.
According to AsiaOne, it will be situated on the first floor, at the space formerly occupied by Artisan Boulangerie Co at #01-163/164. Diners will be able to view the Sentosa Boardwalk while eating.
What’s astounding is that Shake Shack’s first outlet opened in April 2019, just a year and half ago.
The announcement is sure to excite fast-food lovers in the country, especially residents near the area.
Just like its other outlets, the burger joint will work with local artists to design artwork for their stores.
For their Suntec City outlet, which was opened on 30 Sep, the burger chain featured murals from the Ripple Root, the artist moniker of Liquan Liew and Estella Ng.
This time, they’re working with local illustrator Eeshaun.
The current hoarding features Eeshaun’s impression of iconic structures in the surrounding areas, such as Henderson Waves and the cable cars that go to Sentosa.
All you probably care about, though, is the mouthwatering burgers on offer.
It’s All About That Meat
For the sad souls who have never been to Shake Shack, the joint is famous for its juicy and tender beef patties.
As their website describes, their patties are:
100% all-natural Angus beef. No hormones and no antibiotics ever. Our proprietary Shack blend is freshly ground. All burgers are cooked medium unless otherwise requested, served on a non-GMO Martin’s Potato Roll. Add lettuce, tomato, pickle or onion – your choice!
As someone who has had quite a number of Shake Shack burgers before, I can tell you that there’s a good reason why it’s so popular.
The hype is justified.
Expect Long Queues
While an opening date hasn’t been announced, eager diners can expect one thing: long-ass queues.
Whenever a fast-food eatery, especially a Shake Shack outlet, opens up, Singaporeans will line up outside and wait for hours if they have to.
Just look at the lines outside their first store at Jewel when it first opened.
So once Shake Shack reveals the much-awaited opening date, mark it down on your calendars, and get there early.
Or you know, you could just wait till the next day and avoid the long queue.
