Whether we’d like to admit it or not, shoving food into our faces is something we do quite often.
Because of social decorum, doing it in public is frowned upon. So we usually do so while in the movie theatre where no one can see us or in our rooms.
One thing none of us has probably done though, or at least I hope, is shove food into a stranger’s face.
But that’s exactly what one man did recently.
Man Shoved Plate of Food Into Pregnant Woman’s Face for Accusing His Father of Touching Her
The odd incident occurred on 23 Nov, 2019 at the Golden Village cinema in VivoCity mall, reported CNA.
The offender, Kevin Fong Kwok Hsi, and the 32-year-old pregnant the victim were at the cinema for a movie screening that day.
At some point, the woman was walking past a Frozen 2 character standee when she felt someone poke her left thigh. When she turned around, she realised it was an elderly man – Fong’s father.
The victim thought he had poked her because she was in the way of a family member who was trying to take a photo with the standee.
Annoyed, the woman muttered “crazy anyhow touch people” to herself before walking away.
Fong’s wife said she heard what the victim said and stared at the victim before telling Fong what happened.
The victim also informed her husband about the incident but they did not pursue the matter.
This is when things became weird.
Five minutes after the incident, both the offender and victim found themselves at a buffet lunch.
Fong already had a plate of food while the victim was still queueing for her turn.
Holding his plate of food, Fong approached the woman and stared at her. “What is your problem?”, she asked.
Fong replied: “Why (did) you say my father (is) crazy?”
The woman explained that Fong’s father had poked her thigh, and that as a woman, she could report his father for what he did.
She then poked Fong on his thigh in a similar manner to demonstrate what she thought his father did.
Then, because he got angry, or because he suddenly became aware of how well-nourished pregnant women need to be, Fong shoved his plate of food into the victim’s face.
The plate was full of pastries, including an egg tart.
The woman felt pain and ended up with a scratch on her nose. She screamed out to her husband and he rushed to help her, shoving Fong out of the way, as he was still standing in front of the victim.
Onlookers quickly intervened and separated the riled up men.
The woman was seven months pregnant at the time. She went to a hospital with a laceration on her nose and was given medical leave and a follow-up appointment with the Obstetrics & Gynaecology department. Her medical bills came up to S$121.
Fined $1,500
For his actions, Fong was fined $1,500 by a court on Friday (19 Mar). The 40-year-old pleaded guilty to one charge of using criminal force on the victim.
Fortunately, the woman’s pregnancy was not endangered.
Fong only received a fine, but he could have been jailed up to three months for his offence too.
For now, unless someone specifically asks for it, please only shove food into your own face.
