There used to be a time when traveling to Japan was a dream. How many of us could actually afford to fly there for a holiday? Flight tickets cost more then S$1,000, not to mention the money required for eating and lodgings. Japan was, and in some way is still, touted as one of the most expensive countries to go to for a holiday.
But after the slew of natural disasters and the dreaded Fukushima nuclear incident, tourists numbers fell, as did the price of flight tickets to the country as well. Since then, prices for air tickets has never fully recovered, and now, it is so much more affordable to fly to Japan, stay at a reasonably priced accommodation (loads of options such as guesthouses and AirBnB apartments), and enjoy quality Japanese food at awesome prices.
Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways have been going full out with their low promotional air fares to and from Japan for awhile now, and with budget airlines like Scoot that travels there at crazy low prices as well, Singapore Airlines has to jump on the bandwagon too.
And once you hear about the cost of a return air ticket to various parts of Japan such as Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka by our very own award-winning airline, you’ll probably go apeshit. We did.
In conjunction with SJ50, as long as you book your flight by 18 May 2016, you will be able to purchase return tickets to Tokyo from S$618, Osaka from S$668, Nagoya from S$648 and Fukuoka from S$698! Rock bottom prices indeed! In fact, if you purchase your tickets today, you also stand a chance to win a limited edition Hello Kitty Gift, a canon camera and free hotel stay! All you Hello Kitty lovers out there, it’s time for you to visit the land of Sanrio.
This is especially amazing for people like me who love Japan with a fiery passion and travel there at least twice a year. Now, it makes more sense for me to make more trips to the land of my dreams to shop, eat and just luxuriate in omotenashi (Japanese hospitality). What’s more, it gives me more chances to accumulate all my Krisflyer miles to hopefully exchange them for a free return trip to another destination sooner than expected.
A point to take note of though. Anyone can purchase the heavily discounted flight tickets but only Singaporeans are eligible for the lucky draw. There’s really nothing to be too upset about since you are already a winner with such epic, lowdown prices with such a great airline.
And because I was curious, I checked out the cost to travel to Tokyo via Scoot. It costs about S$500+. That’s just about S$100+ more for a proper, more comfortable airline that will serve you food and drinks and other items that will add to your comfort throughout the entire flight.
I am pretty sure a lot of Japan enthusiasts are over the moon about this promotion. I sure am! Seriously, what’s stopping you from making that long awaited Japan trip you have been planning for for so long? Log on now and fulfill that Nippon dream of yours today!
