Ex-SIA Stewardess Relates Her Last Flight in an Entertaining YouTube Video

In their youth, whenever asked in school what they’d like to be when they grow up, many would have dreamed of becoming an air stewardess and living their lives in the skies – a profession that is seen as glamorous and exciting.

Perhaps you’ve always been one of those dreamers, curious about what happens in the aircraft from a stewardess’ perspective, especially during the COVID-19 period where travel is limited.

Even if you’re simply facing withdrawal from not being able to step on a plane, here’s something for you – an ex-SIA stewardess has documented her last flight on the airline, giving viewers an entertaining glimpse into the life of a cabin crew onboard.

For The Memories

YouTuber Jeanette’s World, known as Jeanette, uploaded a vlog on 23 Jan about her very last flight as an air stewardess with SIA.

The vlog served as a personal memory that she would like to keep for herself, Jeanette said, having worked with the airline for two and a half years.

Although the flight was in July 2020, she shared that due to the airline’s policy of being unable to reveal themselves in the uniform, she was only able to upload the video now, months after she had left the company.

Yep, the flight was during the height of the pandemic here in Singapore, so it’s even more interesting to see how our planes operate in this time.

Jeanette first showed herself at home getting ready for the flight at around 3am, before arriving at the airport for the check-in to her very first and last flight to Zurich – which would take about 13 hours.

As she walked towards the boarding gates, she also commented on how empty the departure areas were due to COVID-19, with barely any people save for fellow cabin crewmates.

Walking down the aerobridge lane for the last time, she said she felt “nervous and excited”, as most of us would probably feel on that stretch before the plane, too.

Decked out in goggles and a mask, her last flight then took off.

Bon Voyage

On the flight, she managed to get some shut eye on the bunk beds in the cabin, which she then had to pack up to its original state.

No one in this world, regardless if you’re a famous model or the prettiest celebrity alive, wakes up and wins the fight against getting a bed head.

Jeanette later touched up her hair and makeup in the toilet before going back out to serve passengers – hilariously leaving her camera behind before noticing a long while later.

The plane seemed to be relatively empty too, without a passenger in sight at certain areas. Oh, to go back to the days where you’ll never see empty seats.

Room For One

Upon arrival in Zurich, she was then shown to her hotel room, where she had to say goodbye to her fellow crewmates and friends as they were unable to leave their rooms as part of COVID-19 protocol.

She also said that she was excited to go home the next day, praying that there would not be any COVID-19 cases on her flight back.

However, having heard nice things about the hotels in Zurich from her friends previously, Jeanette was dying to visit – and to no disappointment.

She toured around the room, which had a unique open bathroom concept in which the bathtub was right beside the bed, with a partition in between. You can probably watch TV while you lounge in the tub – sweet, right?

For the rest of the night, Jeanette then went through her routine of removing her makeup, undoing her hair that had been sprayed tough, and finally bathing. She also took this rest time to practice tying up her hair for work in a French twist, which is not an easy feat.

After her wake-up morning routine and a hearty breakfast, she went on her flight back home.

“I have forged so many friendships along the way and met so many nice people along the way also – I’ve never regretted a single bit,” she reflected on her experience upon reaching home, calling it a memorable one.

Trying times may be upon all of us, but here’s hoping that those who diligently serve in the skies may be able to push through until the turbulence stops.
