A former Singapore Police Force officer appeared in court on 25 Jul 2025, facing 15 charges related to sex offences involving at least six underage boys.
Sharizal Shafi’ee, 40, allegedly committed the offences between 2023 and 2024 while he was still with the police force.
The charges include molestation and producing sexually explicit material showing minors. Sharizal has since left the Singapore Police Force.
Ex-Cop Allegedly Used Telegram to Record Boys Performing Sexual Acts
Court documents reveal Sharizal allegedly persuaded multiple victims to perform sexual acts over video calls via messaging platform Telegram. He then used his mobile phone to record these acts, creating child abuse material.
The first alleged incident occurred on 31 Jul 2023 in a Jurong West flat. Sharizal allegedly persuaded a 15-year-old boy to perform a sexual act over a Telegram video call and recorded it using his phone’s screen-recording function.
On 20 Aug 2023, he allegedly committed similar offences involving a 14-year-old boy in the same flat. Court documents state that he repeated these offences with the same victim two days later on 22 Aug 2023.
Sharizal allegedly targeted a second 15-year-old boy twice in November 2023. He persuaded the teenager to perform sexual acts over Telegram video calls on 12 Nov and 17 Nov 2023, recording both incidents on his mobile phone.
Three Boys Allegedly Targeted in Single Day
The most serious allegations center on 18 Apr 2024, when Sharizal allegedly targeted three different victims in one day.
At approximately 2:30pm, he allegedly attempted to procure an obscene act from a 14-year-old boy along a pavement in Jurong West Avenue 1.
Court documents state Sharizal allegedly asked the teenager to help adjust his bra and requested the boy follow him so he could touch the victim in an obscene manner. The documents did not disclose why Sharizal was allegedly wearing the bra.
Between 2:47pm and 2:52pm that same day, Sharizal allegedly molested a third 14-year-old boy at a staircase landing of a Jurong West block of flats. He allegedly used criminal force to outrage the victim’s modesty by touching the boy’s private area.
Later that day, Sharizal allegedly persuaded a third 15-year-old boy to perform a sexual act over a Telegram video call and recorded the incident.
The alleged offences involved three 14-year-old boys and three 15-year-old boys in total.
Sharizal’s case has been adjourned to 22 Aug 2025.
If convicted of molestation, he faces up to three years in jail, a fine, caning, or any combination of these punishments. For each count of producing sexually explicit videos showing minors, offenders can be jailed for up to 10 years and fined or caned.
