A 29-year-old doctor has been charged with allegedly molesting a 24-year-old woman at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) in Yishun.
Yeo Teng Yao was charged on 3 September 2026 over an alleged incident that took place more than three years earlier, according to court documents reported by The Straits Times.
The case has not been concluded, and the allegation against Yeo has not been proven in court.
Allegedly Used Stethoscope on Woman
According to the court documents, Yeo was in a ward at KTPH at around 9pm on 17 July 2023 when the alleged offence occurred.
He is accused of placing the diaphragm of a stethoscope on the 24-year-old woman's breasts.
The diaphragm is the flat part of a stethoscope's chestpiece used to listen to sounds inside the body, including the heartbeat.
The court documents did not state whether the woman was a patient at KTPH.
No further details about the circumstances of the alleged incident were reported.
MOH Holdings Says Doctor Was Suspended and Dismissed
Yeo was previously employed by MOH Holdings (MOHH), which handles functions including the employment and deployment of medical officers within Singapore's public healthcare system.
In response to media queries on 8 September, MOHH said Yeo was suspended from all duties as soon as the matter was brought to its attention.
The organisation said he has since been dismissed, adding that it expects its medical officers to maintain high standards of professional conduct.
The Straits Times also reported that a check of the Singapore Medical Council's database showed Yeo remained registered as a doctor as at 8 September.
Case to Return to Court on 29 September
Yeo's pre-trial conference is scheduled for 29 September.
A pre-trial conference is used to prepare a criminal case for trial and deal with relevant matters before a trial date is fixed, according to the Singapore Courts.
Under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code, a person convicted of assaulting or using criminal force on another person with the intention of outraging that person's modesty, or knowing that it is likely to do so, can be jailed for up to three years, fined, caned, or receive a combination of these punishments.
