A Singapore-registered car pulled down a petrol kiosk booth at a Shell station in Jalan Skudai, Johor, on 18 Oct 2025 after driving away with the petrol pump still attached to the vehicle.
The incident occurred at approximately 10.15pm and forced the station to suspend operations temporarily.
Loud Crash Alerts Nearby Customers
Johor resident Chen Zi Xin said her parents were refuelling at the same station when a loud sound drew their attention to another kiosk ahead of them that had collapsed, reported The Straits Times.
They saw a silver car several metres away from the kiosk with its fuel cover open and a petrol pump still in the vehicle.
Video footage posted on Facebook showed an employee running across the forecourt as a man from the Singapore-registered car emerged from the vehicle.
A station employee waved down the driver to address the matter.
Customers Flee Over Explosion Fears
Chen said her family was afraid the station might explode and hurriedly drove away. At least three other motorists at the kiosk had to abandon their petrol pumps as the station stopped operations temporarily.
Photos and videos shared online showed the pump badly damaged, with parts of the hose and casing scattered on the ground. Another video captured a nearby car reversing away from the damaged pump as two Shell staff rushed to the scene.
Driver Stayed Until 3am
A Shell employee who was on shift during the incident said a police report was made, while the station has also contacted its insurance company, according to Shin Min Daily News.
The driver of the car, a Singaporean man in his 30s, apologised repeatedly and was cooperative, staying at the petrol station until 3am, the employee added.
