ICA Cancels a S’porean’s Passport As He Breached SHN & Even Went Overseas While on SHN

I think it’s pretty clear by now that Singapore takes its new measures to contain COVID-19 very seriously. I mean, where else can you find a place that’ll jail you just for going out to buy food while you’re on MC?

But it’s understandable because one irresponsible act could lead to a cluster that could eventually lead to a wide community spread—just ask Patient 31 from South Korea.

Which is why the authorities have decided to cancel a person’ passport because he’s being such an irresponsible brat, one wonders if he’s been drunk for months.

ICA Cancels a S’porean’s Passport As He Breached SHN & Even Go Overseas While on SHN

This time round, the name of the accused is revealed.

Goh Illya Victor, a 53-year-old Singaporean, had arrived in Singapore on 3 March 2020 from Batam. Over at the Tanah Merah Ferry terminal, he was issued with a 14-day Stay-Home Notice.

But the guy didn’t just refuse to stay home. He even refused to stay in the country.

On the same day, he departed from Singapore back to Indonesia even when ICA officers told him that that would be a breach of the notice and that he would face penalties.

But he remained adamant and went off.

Came Back to Singapore on 24 March

The man then finally came back to Singapore on 24 March 2020, and suffice to say, he didn’t have a red carpet treatment.

Instead, his passport has been cancelled.

ICA has also referred the case to MOH for investigations.

A person who fails to comply with the Stay-Home Notice could face a fine of up to $10,000, be jailed for up to six months, or both.
