In South Korea, a religious cult managed to perpetuate the first wave of Covid-19 infections.

Yet questionable religious leaders aren’t just confined to a single country.

And in Singapore, one such self-proclaimed prophet is now back in the limelight again.

Muis Said Self-Proclaimed Prophet Who Had 5 Spiritual Wives Not a Registered Teacher

On 10 Nov 2020 (Tuesday), Muis revealed that a man who claims to be a prophet is not a registered religious teacher under the Asatizah Recognition Scheme (ARS), nor is he qualified to lead religious classes.

According to them, they’ve issued an advisory against him back in 2018 to “cease his religious activities”.

Then, he had claimed to only conduct “spiritual healing” and nothing else.

Well, fresh allegations about the man in his 50s have surfaced and they’re serious indeed.

Not only has he started a religious school without registering with Muis, but he had also taught several claims which are unacceptable in Islam.

This includes gambling, having “spiritual wives” and calling himself a prophet.

Has Five Spiritual Wives

Several ex-members of his religious classes have stepped forward to complain about the self-styled prophet.

They claimed that he was responsible for ending their marriages and took on their ex-wives as his spiritual wives.

The women, who reportedly referred to one another as “sister”, had several local graduates, including a senior executive in a Malay-Muslim organisation.

According to a separate report on ST, one of the men, who was a massage therapist, claims his former wife was “brainwashed” by the self-styled prophet who promised his spiritual wives $3 million after the business becomes successful in 2015.

Gambling To Help The Needy

A former follower alleged that during one of the religious teaching sessions, the man had told them to buy 4D and Toto numbers.

The purpose, he claimed, was to “help the needy”.

The followers were told to track the 4D winning numbers and were even taught a special prayer to be chanted before buying the numbers.

Notes that ST managed to get from the classes showed the man to be a person who made use of his charisma and religious knowledge to convince others.

He managed to make them think that in order for their life and business to succeed, they need him in their lives.

Muis Investigating

Turns out, this man has been known for quite some time.

In 2015, he had allegedly behaved “inappropriately” towards the daughter of one of his “spiritual wives”.

Back then, the police had decided not to take any action against him after considering all the facts of the case.

It was also revealed by Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Masagos Zulkifli that Muis, as well as relevant authorities, will be looking into the new claims and allegations against the self-styled prophet.

He hopes that people with information will step forward to testify against the man.

Meanwhile, he also urges members of the Islam community to verify with Muis should they come across any teachings that they are not sure of.

The self-styled prophet has allegedly been leading the all-female group for the past 15 years.
