Employment Rights and Holiday Compensation Rules
Employees who work on public holidays receive an extra day’s salary at their basic rate of pay, in addition to the gross pay they earn for that day.
Employers and employees can mutually agree to substitute a public holiday for another working day. Employers may also grant time-off-in-lieu based on mutually agreed hours for specific employee groups working on public holidays.
Three categories qualify for time-off-in-lieu arrangements. Workmen earning more than S$4,500 per month are eligible. Non-workmen earning more than S$2,600 per month qualify. All managers and executives can receive this arrangement.
