Singapore recorded its joint-highest daily maximum temperature for September after Woodlands Avenue 9 Climate Station reached 35.8°C at 3.27pm on Saturday, 26 September 2026.
The reading matched the previous September record of 35.8°C recorded at Sembawang Road on 30 September 2016, according to The Straits Times and the National Environment Agency (NEA).
Warm Second Half Of September Expected
The hot weather comes after NEA’s mid-September fortnightly forecast warned that Singapore could experience warmer conditions in the second half of the month.
NEA said the daily maximum temperatures during the period were expected to be around 33°C and above, with some days potentially reaching higher levels.
Singapore’s climate is generally hot and humid throughout the year, with temperatures influenced by factors such as rainfall patterns, cloud cover and winds.
Heat Levels Reached Near Record
The 35.8°C reading at Woodlands Avenue 9 was recorded during the afternoon, when temperatures are typically at their highest.
While the temperature matched Singapore’s September record, it did not exceed the country’s all-time highest recorded daily maximum temperature. The national record remains 37.0°C, recorded at Tengah in April 1983.
NEA advises members of the public to stay hydrated, reduce prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and take precautions when carrying out outdoor activities during hot periods.
