Singapore Pop Star Regina Song Nominated for Music Awards Japan’s Best Song Asia Category

Singaporean pop sensation Regina Song, 21, has secured a nomination at the inaugural Music Awards Japan (MAJ), becoming the only Singaporean nominee at the event.

She is competing in the Best Song Asia category with her hit single ‘The Cutest Pair’ from her debut album Fangirl.

The other nominees in the Best Song Asia category include Supernova by Aespa, Way 4 Luv by Plave, Satu Bulan by Bernadya and Ghost by Jeff Satur.

The award ceremony takes place on 21 May and 22 May at Rohm Theater in Kyoto, Japan. The Music Awards Japan is organised by the Japan Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association in collaboration with Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

TikTok Fame Propels ‘The Cutest Pair’ to Global Success

“The Cutest Pair” has garnered over 44 million streams on Spotify since its release in June 2024. The track became a viral sensation on TikTok, with a clip of Song’s rendition garnering over 25 million views.

Song currently has more than one million monthly listeners on Spotify. She has been writing songs since she was 16 years old.

Song said: “It feels extremely surreal to be part of the top five nominees in the Best Song Asia category. It would be my absolute dream and honour to take this award home, but this nomination is already such a blessing, and I am so grateful for every person that has been cheering me on.”

Regional Tour Success Following Debut Album Release

In January 2025, Song embarked on a Southeast Asia tour following the release of her debut album. The tour included performances in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta and Manila.

She performed at Wanderland Festival in the Philippines in March 2025. Song is scheduled to perform at Indonesia’s LaLaLa Fest next.

The final nominees for the Music Awards Japan were announced ahead of the ceremony date.
