Everything About the Deaths in S’pore River Whereby 1 of Them Was Trying to Save his Friend

Amidst these challenging times, true friendships are questionably rare and few. And so, it’s both admirable and saddening to learn that for two friends from Johor Bahru…

Their bromance had to end in utter tragedy.

Everything About the Deaths in S’pore River

You may have already heard of the unfortunate incident that befell two men yesterday (18 April 2021).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) had received a call for help at around 2:00 a.m., after being alerted to a water-related incident at the Singapore River.

They swiftly deployed divers in a search and rescue operation under the waters.

With the help of a Remotely-Operated Vehicle (ROV), two bodies were eventually extracted.

Pronounced dead at the scene, the retrieval led to rife speculation about the bodies’ identities, and the exact nature of the accident that befell them.

1 of Them Was Trying to Save his Friend

The two men had reportedly been drinking at a nearby bar with friends when they decided to sit by the riverside steps to chat.

For some reason, however, one of the two men, 28-year-old Dheephan Raaj, ended up falling into the waters.

26-year-old Yoges then leapt in, in an evident attempt to rescue his friend.

Unfortunately, what was supposed to be an act of selflessness soon turned unimaginably awry, as both men ended up drowning.

When their friends saw the horrific incident unfold before them, they hurried to call the cops.

But intervention, though timely, was not enough to save the two men.

According to a relative of the deceased, Dheepan Raj and Yoges had crossed the causeway to work here.

Apparently, Yoges only arrived earlier this month.

Family members and friends are said to be distraught.

Investigations

Thus far, the police are not suspecting any foul play.

The true cause, however, has yet to be determined.

Police investigations are currently ongoing.

Falling Into The Singapore River

Though rare, instances of individuals falling into the Singapore River are not entirely non-existent.

In June last year, an intoxicated woman had fallen into the river, and had to await rescue from the SCDF.

Apparently, she had no idea how she fell in.

Nevertheless, she managed to stay clear-headed and conscious enough to keep herself afloat till the SCDF’s arrival.
