Quah Tee Keon, a former Singaporean taxi driver, found himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
It all started on a fateful morning of 13 October 2013, when then-56-year-old Quah discovered his wife, Loong Mei Ling, in bed with another man, Chinese national Ruan Chao Qiang at her home in Bera, Pahang.
Overwhelmed with rage, Quah subsequently grabbed a knife and fatally stabbed Ruan. But he didn’t just stop there; he also inflicted serious injuries on Loong, targeting her neck, hands, and back.

Photos of the crime scene revealed a horrifying scene with blood splattered everywhere. Their oldest son, only six years old at the time, reportedly witnessed the crime.
Quah and Loong’s relationship had already been on the rocks. Married in 2004, the couple had moved from Toa Payoh to Woodlands in Singapore.
However, things took a turn for the worse when Loong, who was Quah’s second wife, alleged that he had been physically abusive. Back then, neighbours would also report frequent arguments coming from the couple’s residence.
Deciding enough was enough, she moved back to her family home in Pahang, Malaysia, with their three sons, where she presumably connected with Ruan.
It is reported that Loong and Ruan were colleagues in Singapore.
Running from Justice and Subsequent Arrest
After committing the terrible crime, Quah went on the run and evaded the authorities for two weeks.
He finally surrendered to the police in Kuala Lumpur on 28 October 2013, marking the start of the lengthy legal battle that culminated in his death sentence.
On 17 July 2023, standing before a panel of judges chaired by Malaysian Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat in Johor Bahru, Quah made a startling request. Instead of seeking mercy, he asked to be hanged.

“I don’t want to ask for clemency, I only ask for the death sentence. Thank you,” he declared. The judges, led by Malaysian Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, upheld his request and sentenced him to death.
These five GRCs could see the tightest battle in GE2025; here’s why:
