What better way to teach people about total defence then to make them try and escape from what’s coming? That’s what the Singapore Discovery Centre (SDC) is thinking when they decide to use an escape room format in their latest exhibition.
Will You Do You?
With Total Defence Day coming up (on 15 Feb 2020), Singapore Discovery Centre decides to use an escape room format to try and educate Singaporeans about the dangers of the future.
The room is styled as the dystopian future of Singapore.
The participants’ jobs are to find clues among the exhibits and piece them together to escape the room.
Which is pretty symbolic, if you think about it:Â Make the right decisions and we can all escape Singapore becoming like this.
What Can You Expect From The Exhibition?
Singapore Discovery Centre designed scenarios within the room to include:
- Fake news causing deadly riots
- Scammers managing to break the banks
- No more greenery within Singapore
The exhibition also consists of interactive games, like players roleplaying by sending messages to a scammer on a screen.
This will also allow them to learn how scams actually work.
And these are legitimate information because they were done in consultation with the Cyber Security Agency and the National Environment Agency for areas in cyberscams and climate change.
Other ‘Pillars’ Will Be Covered
Besides the cybersecurity, climate change and digital health, Singapore Discovery Centre isn’t neglecting the other pillars.
Documentaries and stage productions about the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) will also be held daily.
There’ll also be a 4D military-themed ride within the exhibition for visitors to experience.
It’s Like A Giant Arcade Within Singapore Discovery Centre
I mean, imagine being Singapore’s commanding general ordering SAF forces to victory:
Or travelling through time to save Singapore from a massive MRT bomb:
This is just the tip of the iceberg for when you visit SDC yourself.
You can find out more about the activities here.
Best of All, It’s Free
If you’re a Singaporean or a Permanent Resident, that is. For non-citizens and non-PRs, prices can be found on the Singapore Discovery Centre’s website.
The exhibition has already started (21 Jan 2020) and will be held until 22 Mar 2020.
So don’t say we bojio hor!
