The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) issued a weather advisory on 16 June, warning residents to keep umbrellas handy for the remainder of the month.

Nights will remain particularly uncomfortable, with temperatures staying above 28°C on most evenings. The warm and humid overnight conditions are attributed to the prevailing Southwest Monsoon that established itself over the region in early June.
The Southwest Monsoon typically brings drier conditions compared to other times of the year and usually lasts until September. Winds during this period blow mainly from the southeast or southwest directions.
Thundery Showers Expected on Some Days with Below-Average Rainfall
Short-duration thundery showers will affect parts of Singapore on some days in the fortnight. These localised downpours are expected to occur during late morning and afternoon hours.
A few days may experience fair and occasionally windy weather conditions.
Despite the scattered showers, total rainfall for the second half of June is forecast to be below average across most parts of the island.
First Half of June Brings Record Heat and Patchy Rain
The opening two weeks of June saw localised short thundery showers over parts of Singapore on several days. Most areas registered below-average rainfall during this period.
Jurong Pier recorded the lowest rainfall at 67% below average, while Clementi experienced 12% above-average precipitation.
Two significant weather events marked the first fortnight. A passing Sumatra squall brought widespread thundery showers and gusty winds in the early hours and pre-dawn of 8 June.

Heavy thundery showers struck the southwestern part of Singapore during the late afternoon and night of 15 June due to localised wind convergence. A daily total rainfall of 131.2mm was recorded on that day – the highest daily total for the two-week period.
Temperature-wise, the first half of June proved exceptionally warm. Daily maximum temperatures exceeded 34°C on most days.
Ang Mo Kio registered the period’s highest temperature of 35.8°C on 1 June, marking the peak reading for the first two weeks of the month.
