Thinking of tying the knot in an unconventional way?
One Singaporean couple did just that by having their Registry of Marriage (ROM) after-party at their HDB flat:
In a TikTok video that has since garnered over 50,000 views, TikTok user @sl33pydumpling documented how she and her partner had their ROM after-party at their HDB flat with around 30 guests.
According to her, there were 3 main reasons why she and her husband decided to have such a unique celebration:
- They had just bought their flat and did not want to spend even more money on a grand wedding
- The couple aren’t fans of grand weddings to begin with as those are usually held in the interest of parents and family
- It’s less energy to entertain a smaller group of friends
Altogether, the couple spent around S$1,500 to S$2,000 on food, flowers and alcohol, with the bulk of the expenditure going towards the alcohol.
Their cheese section cost a total of S$120 and was from The Cheese Shop and Fairprice Finest, whilst the flowers cost a total of S$200:
Around S$200 was spent on the custom ramen bar, with S$100 going towards cost of the ingredients and another S$100 to the selection of instant noodles:
The bites were around S$50 to S$80, consisting of garlic bread made by the couple themselves and air fried frozen food:
What a quirky and intimate way of celebrating a union.
