71-Year-Old Singaporean Man Charged After Allegedly Molesting 12-Year-Old Girl in Church

A 71-year-old Singaporean man was charged on 9 Dec 2025 with three counts of molesting a young girl in a church approximately 10 years ago.

The alleged offences took place between 16 Apr 2015 and 15 Apr 2016, when the man was 61 years old.

A gag order prevents the man from being named to protect the victim’s identity. The victim was 12 years old at the time of the alleged incidents and is now 22.

Details of Alleged Church Molestation Incidents

According to charge sheets, the man allegedly fondled the pre-teen’s chest and private parts on at least three occasions at the place of worship.

The name of the church has been redacted from court documents.

Court documents did not disclose how the alleged victim and the accused were linked to each other at the time of the incidents.

The documents also did not explain why it took a decade for the man to be charged in court.

Court Proceedings and Potential Penalties

The case will be mentioned again in court on 30 Dec.

For each count of molesting a child below 14 years old, an offender can be jailed for up to five years or fined or caned, or receive any combination of such punishments.

If convicted, the man cannot be caned as he is over 50 years old.
