Singaporean Man Jailed for Deceiving 16-Year-Old Girl Into Performing Sexual Acts, Promised Her S$11,000 Monthly

A 45-year-old Singaporean man has been sentenced to four years and five months in jail for deceiving a 16-year-old girl into performing sexual acts by falsely promising monthly payments he could not afford.

Chan Yan Tze Aaron was sentenced on 23 Jun 2025 after admitting to his offences. The case came to light after the victim filed a police report at Woodlands West Neighbourhood Police Centre in July 2022.

Chan Exploited Minor Through Carousell Contact and False Promises

Chan first contacted the girl through Carousell in early 2022, after she posted a listing stating “I’m 17 Female Chinese. I like my friends driving me in cars and I am bored, looking for friends”.

Around June 2022, Chan messaged the girl asking if she wanted to earn “extra pocket money”. Their conversations moved to Telegram where Chan repeatedly offered money in exchange for her time.

Chan initially offered S$2,500 per month. He then increased his offer to S$5,000 when the girl ignored him.

Chan knew the girl was only 16 years old at the time. He had initially invited her to a hotel but decided against it after realising her age.

He later made specific offers including S$100 for sex and S$150 per hour for platonic dates.

The girl turned down offers as she felt that they were not high enough. However, she eventually agreed to meet Chan at his residential unit.

On 3 Jul 2022, Chan booked a car for the girl and arranged to meet her at his condominium at around 9pm. During their meeting, he told the girl about his sexual experiences with his ex-girlfriend who was also a minor.

Chan offered to pay the girl S$11,000 monthly, comprising S$5,000 cash and S$6,000 credit on a debit or credit card, for sexual services. He also claimed that he had bought her an Apple handphone as a gift.

Despite having no financial means to fulfil these promises, Chan brought the girl to a female toilet cubicle in his condominium where he started kissing her. He then asked her to remove her clothes, to which she complied.

He proceeded to perform sexual acts on her, before asking whether they could go further.

When the girl refused and asked for payment, Chan told her he was “already horny” and would pay her later. The girl tried pushing him away but Chan continued to touch her private parts and perform sexual acts.

Their meeting only ended after the girl agreed to perform a sexual act on Chan at his request.

From the date of their meeting until his sentencing on 23 Jun 2025, Chan never paid the girl any money. Instead, he sent fictitious screenshots showing a S$35,000 transfer to her bank account.

Chan also lied about applying for a supplementary credit card in the girl’s name. Around 8 Jul 2022, he offered her a counterfeit Rolex yacht master watch as payment. A genuine Rolex of that model was valued at S$35,000.

Chan continued requesting sexual services from the girl until 7 Jul 2022, despite having no intention of paying her.

Multiple Fraud Cases Reveal Pattern of Deception and Gambling Addiction

The court heard Chan had deceived multiple colleagues through various scams. Since 4 Aug 2021, he regularly showed a colleague screenshots of alleged online trading profits while at work.

Chan offered to teach the colleague about trading and promised profits within three months if given money to trade on his behalf. Around 3 Dec 2021, Chan sent a fake screenshot showing a S$15,250 transfer, claiming it was profit earned for the colleague.

The screenshots were generated using his banking app’s scheduled transfer function, which he would cancel after forwarding the image. Chan repeated this scam on 15 Dec and 18 Dec 2021.

The colleague transferred Chan S$1,950 over four months. After a police report was filed in April 2022, Chan promised monthly restitution of S$350 but had only paid S$500 by his sentencing date.

In January 2023, despite having two police reports filed against him in 2022, Chan deceived another colleague seeking to buy an iPhone. Chan claimed he had a friend working for Apple who could provide staff discounts.

The colleague transferred Chan S$1,950 in two payments for the iPhone purchase. However, Chan had no intention of buying the phone, as he had a gambling habit and intended to use the money for gambling.

After giving various excuses for not delivering the iPhone and sending a fictitious refund screenshot claiming to have returned S$2,000, the colleague filed a police report in May 2023.

Chan offered monthly restitution of S$500 but had made no payments to this colleague by his sentencing date.
