If you have been wanting ChatGPT Plus but cannot quite convince yourself to add another monthly subscription to your life, there is now another way to get it.
From 16 September 2026, Singapore citizens aged 18 and above who attend an eligible artificial intelligence course can redeem a complimentary six-month subscription to a premium AI service.
The options include ChatGPT Plus, Google AI Pro, Manus AI, Microsoft 365 Personal and Singtel AI Pass.
The initiative was first announced during Budget 2026 and officially rolled out by the Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) on 16 September.
You Need to Take an Eligible AI Course First
There is an important catch: you cannot simply log in to MySkillsFuture and claim six free months of ChatGPT Plus.
You must first attend an eligible AI course.
More than 200 AI-related courses from about 30 SWDA-supported training providers were rolled out on 16 September, covering areas ranging from using AI to improve workplace productivity to more advanced skills for AI-related roles and business transformation.
On MySkillsFuture, courses that qualify for the free subscription carry a “Free AI sub” label.
According to MySkillsFuture, a person must be a Singapore citizen, be at least 18 years old and attend an eligible course that ends on or after 16 September 2026.
The course itself is not necessarily free. Depending on the programme and the learner’s eligibility, course fees may be supported by existing SkillsFuture funding or payable using SkillsFuture Credit.
There Are 5 Subscriptions to Choose From
Eligible learners can select one of five options.
There is ChatGPT Plus, which provides higher usage limits and access to OpenAI’s premium AI capabilities.
Google AI Pro offers expanded access to Google’s AI products, while Manus AI provides credits for its AI agent platform.
Microsoft 365 Personal includes apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook with AI features, along with cloud storage.
Singtel AI Pass works slightly differently. Users initially get three months to access a collection of premium AI tools, including Manus, Otter.ai and several image, video and audio tools. They can then select one tool to continue using for another three months.
Basically, this is one decision you may want to make carefully because there is no AI subscription buffet where you take ChatGPT first, then come back for Gemini later.
Each eligible Singapore citizen can redeem only one free subscription, regardless of how many qualifying AI courses they attend.
Once the request form has been submitted, the selected AI subscription also cannot be changed.
How to Claim the Free Subscription
After attending an eligible course, the learner will receive an email containing the redemption details.
They must then submit the request form in the email and indicate which of the five subscriptions they want.
The request has to be submitted within 60 days of receiving the notification email.
If the request is successful, activation instructions will subsequently be sent by email.
The free subscription initiative is part of Singapore’s broader effort to build practical AI skills among workers.
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said at the launch of the SkillsFuture Festival on 16 September that the refreshed SkillsFuture portal would come with the premium AI access as well as a curated catalogue of more than 200 AI courses.
The Government had first announced the free access during Budget 2026 in February, with the idea that people should have an opportunity to actually practise with more capable AI tools after learning how to use them.
