If you’re Singaporean, you were likely born with a strong love for free gifts.
That’s why residents all over the country celebrated when it was announced that the government would be giving out S$100 worth of tourism vouchers for staycations, attractions, and tours.
All Singaporeans aged 18 years and above will receive the “SingapoRediscovers” vouchers in Dec 2020, and will be able to use them until June 2021, when they expire.
Now, details of the vouchers have finally been unveiled.
Details of S$100 SingapoRediscovers Vouchers Released
Over 200 merchants will be involved in the SingapoRediscovers scheme, according to the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).
STB revealed details of the scheme in a Facebook post on Monday (16 Nov).
In their post, STB provided a link to a list of all the merchants involved, such as hotels, tours, and attractions.
So, what can Singaporeans look forward to?
Attractions: Universal Studios, ArtScience Museum, & Gardens by the Bay
There are a total of 37 attractions on offer for the SingapoRediscovers scheme.
Notable additions include Universal Studios Singapore, the ArtScience Museum, and Gardens by the Bay.
Animals lovers can go for the Night Safari, S.E.A. Aquarium, River Safari, and Jurong Bird Park.
Conversely, those who want a little more adventure can try HydroDash or Wild Wild Wet.
You can check out the other attractions here.
Hotels: MBS, Four Seasons, Mandarin Orchard
A year without travelling is like bubble tea without the pearls; it just feels weird.
With border restrictions crushing our dreams of vacations in faraway lands, it might be a while before we can travel for leisure again.
Fortunately, we can have a little staycation right here in sunny Singapore.
As part of the SingapoRediscovers scheme, Singaporeans will be able to use their $100 voucher at 147 hotels across the country.
This includes the Mandarin Orchard, Four Seasons Singapore, and Marina Bay Sands Hotel.
Other notable additions are the Shangri-la, the Ritz-Carlton, and Fullerton Bay.
The entire list of hotels can be found here.
Tours
Lived in the country for several decades but want to explore parts you’ve never seen before?
79 tours will be available as part of the SingapoRediscovers scheme, ready to take you around the country.
One of them is called Trishaw Uncle Pte Ltd, so don’t overlook these tours; there may be something that interests you.
How to Redeem Vouchers
The vouchers will be distributed in denominations of S$10, and will be transferred digitally via the SingPass government portal.
STB said the redemption of vouchers “will adopt a digital mode by default”.
On 3 Nov 2020, Minister of State for Trade and Industry Alvin Tan said in parliament that up to 66 counters will be set up across Singapore to help those without a SingPass account redeem their physical SingapoRediscover vouchers.
Each public housing estate will have at least 1 redemption point.
The redemption points will be set up by the following booking platforms:
- Klook Travel Technology with UOB Travel Planners
- Changi Travel Service
- Global Tix
- Trip.com
- Traveloka
There will also be ambassadors deployed to help the elderly with the redemption process.
STB is also working together with the People’s Association (PA) to have counters available at about 40 community centres.
