For a long time, plastic surgery has been a taboo topic. And for good reason too.
After all, a person’s essentially paying money to change their features at birth, and that doesn’t really coincide with humans’ more… traditional beliefs.
But I beg to differ. Now, I’m not advocating plastic surgery or anything like that. What I mean is that facial features are something a person’s born with, and not something they actually chose.
And so really, it’s up to someone whether they want to improve their appearance and all, seeing how in the end it’s their own money anyway.
And plus, it does have the ability to change someone’s life.
Like what it did for this single mother from Vietnam.
Dumped for being too ugly
Meet Huyen, a 28-year-old mother from Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.
Having been born with single eyelids and a slightly tanned skin tone, she wasn’t exactly the sweetheart every guy dreamt of at school. And indeed, according to Oriental Daily, she revealed that she was always the laughing stock of people.
Tough revelation, but that’s the world for you.
However, in what seems to be a case of near exaggeration, Huyen expressed that her boyfriend’s family members actually deemed her too ugly, and forced him to pull out of the wedding. And that’s despite the fact that Huyen just bore their baby.
Sounds preposterous? Sounds absolutely damning? Well, that’s exactly what happened. But here’s the thing:
She didn’t take it lying down
Huyen Impossible 6: Plastic Possible
Following the cruel revelation, Huyen set about saving money for plastic surgery, in the belief that it was the key to turning her life around.
And in three years’ time, she had spent a whopping 100,000,000 dongs (approx. SGD$6,000) on various procedures.
“Since I wasn’t in the best financial situation, I had to start working without much rest after the surgeries.”
“On the third day after my breast augmentation procedure, I had to endure the pain and go to work. That was the most painful time in my life,” she said.
But it seems that whatever she went through, all the hardship and mockery she endured…
Was not for naught.
Before:
After:
It has to be clarified that like all mothers, Huyen’s mother was initially concerned about her health as well. But after seeing the drastic changes she went through, she slowly warmed up.
“After seeing the changes in me, she gradually became supportive of my decisions,” she said.
And plastic surgery appears to have healed much more than just her exterior front too, for Huyen claimed to have felt more confident as a result of her enhanced looks.
Which really makes you glad for her, all things considered.
At current moment, Huyen’s reportedly considering a nose job, although if I were to be honest here she looks pretty fine at the moment already.
Plastic Surgery
Now, I would just like to clarify something: plastic surgery doesn’t necessarily fix all your problems. If you’re running short of confidence and seek plastic surgery to cure it, take note:
It’s no miracle worker.
Sure it can enhance your features, and if done correctly it could boost your self-esteem and confidence the way Huyen benefitted. But also take note that if things do go awry, you’re the one who has to tank all the post-op shit.
So consider carefully if you’re seriously contemplating about going under the knife, because at the end of the line…
You’re responsible for all your decisions.
