It’s one thing to be close to your colleagues, sharing your life story and whatnots, but it is a whole new level when your colleague slaps your buttocks without consent every time they pass.
That level is called harassment.
Man Harasses His Female Colleague By Slapping Her Buttocks, Twice
In this case, it involved a 34-year-old defendant (from China) and his 24-year-old female colleague worked as operators at a factory.
The man is the senior at the factory with three years under his belt while the lady had just started working there for around a month.
On 15 March 2021 at around 12:00pm, the lady passed by the defendant and was shocked to find that the defendant had slapped her butt – the left butt cheek to be precise – three times in a row.
He also commented that her butt is very bouncy.
It made the lady afraid and completely at loss as to what to do.
She was even wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) at that point but it, unfortunately, doesn’t protect her from the defendant.
The next day at 6:48pm, the female colleague was sitting down packing some products.
The defendant walked by and wrapped both his arms around the lady’s neck for two seconds.
This made the lady feel unnerved.
Plus, the whole incident was captured by the CCTV there as well.
After around 8 minutes, the female colleague was observing another colleague as he demonstrates how to clean a product.
As she was bent over, the defendant walked by once again.
He slapped the lady’s buttocks hard enough for her to feel pain.
Realizing that she couldn’t ignore her colleague’s harassment any longer, since that only seems to “encourage” him to continue harassing her, she reported the issue to her supervisor.
Under advice from the supervisor, she reported the incidences to the police.
Man Charged with Indecent Assault
He faced three counts of indecent assault and a count of harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act (POHA)
He pleaded guilty to all counts.
The prosecution pushed for a tougher sentence, requesting between 10 to 14 days of jail time, since he made the female colleague feel humiliated.
He was sentenced to 8 days in prison instead.
