A smoke-filled Singapore-bound Scoot flight from Bangkok was forced to turn back after looping four times.
We didn’t know Scoot was doing joyrides now.
Singapore-Bound Scoot Flight TR605 from Bangkok Turned Back Due to Technical Fault
On Monday (8 May), a Singapore-bound Scoot flight, which left Bangkok at 3:56 pm local time (4:56 pm Singapore time), was suddenly forced to turn back to Bangkok mid-flight.
The reason? Technical faults.
According to a Scoot spokesman, these technical faults resulted in the airline’s decision to turn flight TR605 back to Bangkok as a safety precaution.
Guess you could say the flight had to scoot.
A 53-year-old passenger on the flight shared that 30 minutes into the flight, the pilot announced a ventilation issue with the aircraft.
The 53-year-old added that there was a “damp smell” on the aircraft as if something was leaking.

Flight data shows that before returning to Bangkok, the flight made four loops near the island of Ko Si Chang, off the coast of Thailand’s Si Racha district.
Maybe the pilots just wanted to take another look at Ko Si Chang Island.
Cabin of Scoot Flight Filled With Smoke
A TikTok posted by the user @cheeken_sotong of a video taken on the same Scoot flight has since gone viral. The video shows smoke filling the cabins of the plane.
Not sure if this flight is headed for Singapore or Genting Highlands. Or perhaps someone on the flight is a world-champion smoker.
While it is unclear what the technical faults are, Scoot has confirmed that the smoke-filled cabins have nothing to do with the faults.
Although netizens have speculated that the smoke is for cabin pressure, Scoot clarified that the “smoke” was merely water vapour from air-conditioning.
With our current weather, whatever air-conditioner Scoot uses on their flights, they must stop gatekeeping it and let us know now.
Scoot Flight TR605 Eventually Delayed By More Than Three Hours
After the flight returned to Bangkok at 5:09 pm local time (6:09 pm Singapore time), the 230 passengers on board were given refreshments while waiting for the technical fault to be fixed.
Even if the flight wasn’t great, you must admit that Scoot has a good PR team.
After a three-hour delay, the Scoot flight finally departed Suvarnabhumi Airport again at 7:27 pm local time (8:27 pm) and arrived in Singapore at 10:26 pm.
The flight was initially supposed to arrive in Singapore at 7:15 pm.
Perhaps the next time you’re late to meet your friends, your excuse can be about how Scoot was three hours late.
Not Scoot’s First Time in the Limelight for A Smoke-Filled Cabin This Year
Earlier this year, in January, Scoot also found itself in the limelight after videos of the flight cabin filling up with smoke made their rounds on social media.
However, this time it wasn’t just water vapour from air-conditioning. It was because a power bank caught fire before take-off. The flight was bound for Singapore from Taipei, Taiwan.
Fortunately, the fire was eventually put out, and while two passengers were injured, the injuries were minor.
