Wild Chase on the Platform
Was it simply lost? Or was it perhaps curious about Singapore’s public transportation system?

The TikTok video, which quickly gathered attention online, clearly shows the station staff working as a team to contain the furry intruder.
The small brown squirrel demonstrated remarkable agility, darting between their legs and evading the makeshift traps they created using coats and cardboard boxes.
At one point in the video, the squirrel paused momentarily in front of the platform screen doors, seemingly contemplating its next move.
As soon as staff members cautiously approached, the quick-footed creature scampered away once again.
One determined staff member attempted to block the squirrel’s escape route with his foot, creating a barrier, but the clever animal swerved around the obstacle and continued its frantic dash across the platform.

The chase continued for several minutes with passengers watching the unexpected entertainment unfold.
Finally, one staff member seized an opportunity and tossed a bright red coat directly over the squirrel.
The coat landed perfectly, temporarily disorienting the animal and allowing the team to successfully contain it.
The staff then carefully transferred the captured squirrel into a small yellow box for safe transport away from the station.
Public Reactions and Similar Incidents
The unusual incident sparked numerous comments on social media.

Many netizens responded with humour, suggesting that perhaps the scorching Singapore heat or the heavy downpour outside had driven the small creature to seek shelter in the air-conditioned station.
Others posted comments praising the staff for their quick response and gentle handling of the situation, preventing potential disruption had the squirrel managed to enter a train carriage.
According to available information, this furry intrusion occurred at approximately 1:30 PM on Tuesday.
Lianhe Zaobao has reached out to SMRT for additional details regarding the incident and the fate of the squirrel after its capture.
This is not the first time wildlife has wandered into Singapore’s MRT network.

In previous incidents, chickens, rats, and even curious cats have been spotted roaming MRT stations, creating similar situations that required staff intervention.
