Imagine going to a K-pop singer concert in Singapore, expecting to hear just Korean songs, but was wowed by an English song.
And it’s not just any English song: It’s the iconic “Home”, the song that you’d expect to hear countless times next month.
That’s what happened to K-pop girl group Mamamoo’s Solar concert held on 27 July 2024 at Capitol Theatre.
K-pop Star Solar Wows Singapore Audience with Rendition of Local Song “Home”
Singapore fans of K-pop girl group Mamamoo were in for a special treat during the Singapore stop of the group’s world tour.
Solar, the leader and main vocalist of Mamamoo, surprised concertgoers by performing a few lines of the well-known National Day Parade (NDP) song “Home” in perfect English.
She even flaunted some Singlish she had picked up in Singapore, like saying “wah lao” and “shiok lah”.
Very basic, but very sweet, indeed.
Solar, whose real name is Kim Yong-sun, was born on 21 February 1991 in Seoul, South Korea. She debuted as a member of Mamamoo in 2014 under the company RBW and has since achieved success both with the group and as a solo artist.
She was in Singapore for her first solo concert here.
Over in TikTok, clips of her singing “Home” has gone insanely viral, with one clocking nearly 97K views in 24 hours:
